You actually can conflate the two. The CCP has a party member with veto power in the C-suite of every Chinese company. If a company is based in China, then that company's neck is on the ground with the boot of the CCP pressing on it. That is why we must operate on the principle that the Chinese companies are extensions of the Chinese military. The C-suite of Blackrock is within the borders of the US, which helps our national security as it relates to the Panama Canal.

Disagree all you want, but fact remains that tariffs on Mexico and Canada stand at 25% and only 20% for China. Want to defend that counterproductive, dumbass shit? . . . Of course you don't.

LOL! What's it like to have no agency whatsoever?

They are invested heavily in a country that calls itself "communist" in ideology, and since my own retirement I think is heavily invested in Blackrock funds, I probably stand to benefit individually, not that I have any control of what gets bought.

Hmm. Was it "off topic" or "inconvenient to the narrative"?

    Yeah, we know. . . No. 2.

I agree with you here. Blackrock buying the control points in the canal is better than a CCP controlled Chinese company owning them. However, China might possess mechanisms to exert pressure on a company like Blackrock. So, it is not as ideal as the US government owning the canal.

Um, they're ports, not control points. That would be the locks or the (US) Navy on the approach to the canal. Which is pretty obvious, actually.

Not sure why anyone other than Panama should have control of the canal or its management, its their country

So you want the government owning more of the means of production?

Dude, I'm not saying Chinese companies owning a couple of ports near the canal doesn't mean China has influence over those PORTS -- you understand these ports, and the Panama Canal, are two separate entities, right?.... I'm saying this has nothing to do with Trump's supposed grievance that Panama is charging too much to use the Canal. Surely, you don't think these Chinese owned ports are setting the Canal passage fees, right?

Everything is transactional now. We don't have allies or even friends.

Next time my neighbor needs to park in my driveway for something I'm gonna make him cook me dinner

I have another question ... if a Chinese Business owning these ports is part of some evil Chinese plan to do some unspecified bad thing to America, and China secretly controls all Chinese Businesses, then why exactly did China agree to sell these ports at lightning speed?

Maybe they don't want to risk further economic retaliation from the Trump administration. It is a lower risk proposition to sell off the ports rather than find out what Trump is going to do next.

Blackrock getting rich is only a problem if you hate rich people. It is way down the list of concerns compared to national security.
