French toast just now for Monday brunch! Was down to only 3 slices of bread....and 2 of them were the heels.....
I remember going to place outside LA that on the menu said something like $0.50 extra on your sandwich for two heels. I like the heel because it is extra crust. And my mom was wrong when she said that eating the crust gave you curly hair. I only have one patch of curly hair. LOL.
Well Lurk.....you'd be proud of me today. Ran into WD for a couple items and while there was thinking about grabbing some chicken. BOGO on quite a bit of it so I grabbed a couple big packets of boneless skinless chicken thighs. They're in the freezer section of the fridge in one of my storage units for now. "Filets" is what was on the label. Another big score was I got the last package on the shelf - Oscar Meyer bun length Beef wieners. It was lying on it's back and I almost didn't see it. Whew! Potato buns to go with...
I love OM beef wieners. Used to get their Angus beef versions but just don't see them as much any more.
Chili dogs tonight whilst watching the game. Beer goes with baseball and dogs but these are chili dogs so I picked up a six pack of Modelo.
We are making our beef taco casserole topped with Sargento Tex-Mex shredded cheese tonight. Tostitos multi grain tortilla scoops, sour cream, and sliced fresh jalapeños will be on the side. I picked up a box of ice cold Dos Equis Lager bottles for this afternoon/evening. Ms. Jan’s sticking with her chilled wine. Life is good in Gator Nation!
You might like this. Originally from the Joy of Cooking. I learned about it because my wife has a NYT subscription which includes their wonderful Food section. I did find in our paperback Joy of Cooking. https://ar.pinterest.com/pin/joy-of-cooking-cornbread-tamale-pie-recipe--894738650968530579/ It is like a tamale that is unrolled.
Going to get my freezer emptied out. It's not very large. Just the one inside my fridge, which is already a shorter version to fit under my cabinets. Anyhoo....this morning I pulled out a 1.5 lb. bag of Publix JUMBO shrimp. Cooked, peeled, and deveined w/tail on. I eat them with cocktail sauce. I always look for these on BOGO when I go to Publix. You don't see it on BOGO very often, but worth looking for. They're in my fridge now so should be ready for the big basketball game tomorrow night.
List of ingredients in the regular Oscar Meyer wieners: Mechanically Separated Chicken, Mechanically Separated Turkey, Pork, Water, Corn Syrup, Contains Less than 2% of Salt, Sodium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Diacetate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Ascorbate, Flavor, Sodium Nitrite.
Tonight we’re having taco soup made with chicken instead of ground beef. It’s very windy here the last two days with a cold front moving in over night here. Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are our choices for the evening. Life is good in Gator Nation.
I like making Gambas Al Ajillo with frozen peeled shrimp. A Spanish tapas classic but with some good bread for mopping and a simple salad it's a great meal. Gambas al Ajillo Recipe
Made a feast of Indian food tonight: curry chickpeas, masala lentils, cauliflower and green beans with mixed spice, and saag (spinach). Paired with garlic naan bread that was BOGO at Publix and various pickles and spicy sauces. Yogurt and cilantro as toppers. Easy, cheap, and delicious as leftovers.
