OK. I'll play. In Holland with friends and all of a sudden they REALLY want to go to a bar. Twist my arm, right. Well, it was Germany/Holland in the European cup final. Had no idea what is going on but ended up standing on a table swaying with fans all singing in a bar after Holland won ("Hup Holland Hup" - all I learned). Even in my state I realized they were singing in English - Elvis "You'll never walk alone". Epic. Not the swamp, but damn fun!
They are two good friends and i make sure to always give them shit. I took them both to see the Dead in the LA Colosseum . They didn't know what to think about that.
Good stuff guys! Delusion is strong. How funny would it be if F$U left the ACC and the SEC and BiG said, "Nah, we're good!"
Any cliff notes for those of us (read: all but 4 people on Earth) that don't want to watch an hour long FSU board meeting?
I could see the B1G wanting FSU, unfortunately. Though they'd have to lower their academic requirements. Isn't every B1G school an AAU institution?
Hell no! I lasted about 45 seconds. But the mental gymnastics I did hear was something to behold. Lots of scenarios. None seem that plausible. Again, and at this point, why would the SEC or (especially) the BiG want to add another mouth to feed?
Cliff notes were originally published but none were selling so printing stopped. I read that the publisher was trying to sell some production lots to Dollar Tree but but they weren’t interested
I don't think it's a written requirement, but was kind of their standard and they haven't let anyone in who wasn't. Nebraska lost their membership after joining. They're the only current school that's not AAU.
If the Big18 or the SEC wanted fsu they would be there, same with Clemson, that's why they crawled back to the ACC.
I’m not sure that’s true as the money required to get out of the acc contract was insane and would not have been offset by new member deals with the sec or big for a long time. I know the big wasn’t immediately giving full shares to new members and pretty sure tx and ok don’t get a full share until next year. I’m fairly certain fsu didn’t have the cash to cover their exit and float until they received a full share, don’t know about clempson.
When BIG10 goes for a new TV deal in 2030 they will look to the ACC. Makes sense from a TV revenue point of view. They want to get a footprint in the SE. Follow the $$$$$. I hate the bloated conferences, but times are changing, if the SEC wants more TV revenue they need to consider poaching some teams from the ACC
If we end up with two super conferences, we need yo make sure we keep the upper hand. Tv revenue is key. Unequal revenue sharing may become a big issue also if the two conferences do not unilaterally agree as to how to run things.
That's why I think the SEC would be dumb to sit on the sidelines and let the Big10 scoop up everyone. SEC TV deal is up after the Big10 so I hope they are working the back channels. I think FSU and Clemson are fair game and a better fit for the SEC than BIG10. UVA and UNC might be solid second choices but I don't think they bring the eyes on TV like the other two at least from a football standpoint. My daughter goes to UVA and I went to a few football games this season. Yeah, it's a joke.
Fanbase or recognition? Seems there are plenty with as good or better fanbases, but that F$U logo is more known nationwide. Thus, is the rapper from Chicago with the F$U jersey on a "fan" just a rapper wearing an F$U jersey?
