I have no problem with any part of the Bill of Rightd. I have a problem with people who abuse those rights.
If we have to treat an American President like a crying baby we need to offer pacifiers to, then we have the wrong President.
It is important to realize that in times of war, when your country has been invaded, martial law typically takes effect. The government needs to have the undivided attention of its people to avoid rumors and provide accurate information in life or death situations. One also must consider that Russia would abuse any openings it is given in regards to Ukrainian news or opposition parties due to the Russians living in Ukraine who are working for the Kremlin. Of course Putin acts this way ALL THE TIME and now Trump is trying to favor MAGA media like an Orban or Erdogan, so if the shoe fits....
Ukraine is at war with Russia, and restrictions were placed on media for national security reasons. It’s not like the Ukrainian parliament is banning media because they refuse to call the Gulf of Mexico something else.
I’ve voted for more Republicans than Democrats. Just because indict subscribe to the idiocy that is all things Trump doesn’t mean I’m a Democrat or liberal. Such feeble logic.
What of Putin, whose troops have murdered Ukrainian journalists, authors and intellectuals, and tried to erase Ukrainian history? Tried to stamp out the Ukrainian language and traditions? Perhaps if you would read up on Ukraine from actual sources (such as Serhii Plokhii of Harvard or Yaroslav Tropimov of Wall Street Journal) you could understand why Ukraine is fighting for its very existence as a people. War truly is hell, but more so is Russian oppression. Just ask the Eastern European former Soviet bloc countries.
Just a point of information, the pro-Nazi German-American Bund was outlawed during World War II in the US and freedom of speech was seriously restricted and unlike Ukraine the US was never actually invaded unless one includes Attu a small island in the Aleutians that was occupied by the Japanese for a short time. Free Speech and World War II | Journal of Policy History | Cambridge Core And let's not forget that critics of Trump's buddy Vladimir frequently end up experiencing accidents or ending up in penal colonies.
Trumps' feud with Zelensky is most likely based as much on a desire for retribution the Donald's single most significant personal motivator since he took office as it is on his love for and/or subservience to Vladimir Putin. Trump almost certainly blames Zelensky for his first impeachment and if it wasn't obvious from his performance in the White House Trump is still obsessed with the story of Russian interference in the 2016 election campaign. Despite considerable evidence that it actually occurred Trump still refers to it as a hoax and witch hunt most likely because he refuses to accept that fact that Russian interference may have been a factor in his election victory. In his mind he vanquished Hillary Clinton and did so without assistance from anyone.
Although it's somewhat funny now, within three or four months we're going to be a lot of demand for bumper stickers, yard signs and t-shirts with a photo like this:
