Mizzou (current #5 seed) would have to win out and we’d have to lose out for us to fall to 5.

Tennessee (current #4 seed) would also need to win out and we’d have to lose out for us to fall to 4. We are 1-1 against the Vols and will win the second tiebreaker by virtue of being 1-0 against Auburn.

Being 2 or 3 would be huge to avoid Auburn and their crowd until Sunday and also it’d be nice to avoid Mizzou’s side of the bracket as I have zero faith in one of their guys having a career 8-9 from 3 game against us.

I have us as a 1 seed if we beat bama and ole miss regardless of what else happens. I also have us as a 1 seed if we lose to bama, beat ole miss, but win it all in Nashville.

The only locks for 1 seeds are Auburn and Duke (thanks to their joke conference..if they lose again to Clemson they should be automatically disqualified from a 1 seed). After that I think you have Florida, Alabama, Houston and Tennessee battling for the remaining 1’s. Bama has to beat us or they are out as a 1 seed even if they win the SEC tournament. We can lose and still have a legit chance. Houston unfortunately has the easiest path to stealing a 1 seed. If it comes down to Florida and Tennessee I think we get the nod (unless we beat bama but lose to Tennessee in the tournament).

I know that’s a lot of speculation but that’s all we have to go on right now. We still control our own destiny for sure but that’s Georgia loss leaves the room for error much thinner. Thoughts?

A lot riding on this road game against Bama. I have no doubt we crush Old Piss on Senior Night. Beat Bama and we are likely looking at a 2 seed in the SEC Tournament and a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Although, do we really want a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament if it means going out west?

Great point. Whether we are the last 1 seed or the first 2 seed, isn’t it essentially the same thing? Really thin margins between 3 and 6. If your really good and have the momentum you win.

Yeah, basically, be careful what you wish for. The goal is to win the tournament. Nobody cares what seed you were when the tournament is over.

IMO, this was a great weekend with both Missouri and Bama losing (and obviously our win against the Aggies). That put us in a good position for the SECt. I am also wanting us to be in the Top 3 as a goal for this team. It looks good but Tennessee is hanging around again. They can still get the third place spot.

Statistically speaking, your chances of making the final weekend double if you are a 1-seed over a 2-seed. That's shocking, though maybe shouldn't be. #1 seed at all costs and in any place.

That Georgia game was a total bomb that should never have happened.
A timely timeout could have made a big difference early.

Except that only 2 teams since 1998 have won it all outside of being one of the first 3 seeds and both of those came from UConn. Odds are not good that a 4th - 16th seed will win it all unless your name is UConn.

So much confusion between SEC Tourney seeds and NCAA tourney seeds in this thread.

Funny thing is that if we beat Bama on Wednesday we will probably seal up a #1 NCAA seed assuming we take care of business versus Ole Miss but only get a #2 seed in the SEC tourney.

That is how strong the SEC is this year.

Yes to Lurker! He’s talking about the SECT folks! Not the big dance!

Good point, but 1 seed in ncaa means top 4 in nation. 2 seed in sec means top two in conference.

I’m thinking I’d rather be a 4 seed and face aubie on Saturday. If we lose (no shame in losing to them), we get an extra day of rest. If we win, Sunday game should be easier. Also if we lost to aubrin, if we met up later, we wouldn’t have a big head in knowing that we beat them twice already.

    always a chance (ask Uga)

My response was to a comment about the NCAA Tournament, not the SEC tournament. I really doubt you disagree with my statement.

This thread is about the SECt and you didn't specify NCAAt, so how am I supposed to know you weren't saying "no chance outside a 3 seed" in the SECt??

If we lost the next 3, a NCAAt 3 seed is likely.

Because he was responding to a post exclusively about the NCAA tourney and that post is quoted in his post....it was very clear.

I didn't start the post about the NCAA Tournament. That was someone else. If you are going to take the time to read my post and respond, you should take the time to read the post I was responding to, which was in my post so kinda hard to miss. That would have been your first clue. Anyway, I was just giving you a hard time. I don't really care about getting some bacon once in a while.

Also, I totally agree I would rather play Auburn in the Semis of the SECT and get it over with, although I would also like a rubber match with UT.

That’s very true and a good point.

Is it fair to say Todd Golden is still growing up as a game-time coach. I love so much about all of the other aspects of the program but I feel like the games we lost he bears some, if not quite a lot, of the responsibility. Ultimately it is on the players to execute on both ends. But I think he will get better sensing when he need to jack his team up. He's done pretty well bringing them out in the first 4 minutes of the second half but the problem with some of our losses is we just dug to big a whole in the first half.
