Pete Rose is very popular with MAGA. That's why Trump is issuing the pardon. It's a popular idea and Trump is a populist.

I supported the ban from the Hall of Fame while he was alive. I don't have a problem with putting him in now that he has passed.

He bet on baseball, total no-no. You can say he only bet on them to win but with a bet on the line could he make coaching decisions to win the current game at the harm to the team in future games?

Considering that the real Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is the extreme of form of Narcissistic Personality Disorder with which Donald Trump is afflicted I can only imagine the damage what another 46 months of Trump in office will do to the country.

Agree and using an example that one commentator pointed out when Pete Rose was expelled from baseball decades ago if he had a history of betting on his own team and suddenly stopped doing so it could send the message that one of his key players may have an undisclosed injury that could negatively impact his play. Under that hypothetical he would be unintentionally providing confidential information to professional gamblers who have been following his betting pattern.

Good point. I am sure the bookies paid close attention to his betting patterns. If he had bet on his team 4 times in a row and then didn't bet, bookies could place bets on the other team to win.

So you think tax evasion shouldn't be considered a crime but rather a legitimate form of protest? Trump probably agrees and like his implicit position on corruption he probably never considered tax evasion a crime.

The other issue with an athlete or coach betting is every gambler loses. What happens if a guy like Rose goes on a losing streak? And the bookie says throw a game or two and we'll call it even?

Not unprecedented in baseball. The 1919 Chicago Black Sox scandal. Happened in other sports too, like the 1995 Arizona State basketball betting scandal.
