It is confirmed! Liberals are more likely to suffer from mental health issues than Conservatives

So couldn’t we use the other thread for this same “finding” by a a Christian Conservative group.?

Interesting read. One thing this article didn’t touch on (maybe I missed it while skimming it) is that liberals tend to be more worried about the rest of the world and conservatives are more focused on their own lives. Example - I have a brilliant faculty friend that has been fighting the good fight to feed people in Africa. This faculty has seen so much inequality and starvation that it has hugely impacted their mental health. Conversely, I have a conservative faculty friend who is a business faculty and doesn’t give a shit about anything besides investing, work, trying to get laid, and video games although he does donate periodically to certain causes to “give back”. I would bet all my money that on a well being self assessment he would score way higher than my liberal friend despite being able to hold on to a lady friend.

But it doesn’t mean conservatism is “better” it just means conservative people are better at being self serving and being ok with that whereas more liberal people worry about things they can’t control in the wider world and it’s depressing. Just my 2 cents using an anecdote.

also that attractiveness finding is interesting lol I’d have to see where those samples are from because no way is that true in Gainesville lol. Actually maybe it is, because there are so gross looking liberals that may be drawing down those averages lol but there are sooooo many fat conservatives around here.

I saw a conservative poster here very concerned about which SUV they should buy. Is that similar?

MAGAs are unaware of their mental illness.

I guess being obsessed with being better than others and having memory problems isn’t a mental health or well being issue lol

I think you make many good points.
One that stood out was that liberals tend to care more about the rest of the world.
That is clearly an irrational belief…
Irrational thoughts and beliefs, well they end up on the couch in a therapist office.

I mean, caring about others isn’t irrational. But I think people need to remember that as much as we should consider others around the world it’s hard on us as humans if that’s the priority. The thought is out there, perhaps more philosophically than scientifically, that suggests happier people focus more energy on the self, the family, friends, and community geographically near them rather than being more worried the wider world if that makes sense.

    I think you nailed it.
I definitely care about all people in a general sense.
But I try not to get too attached to the idea that I can impact others across the state much less the globe.

Unlike conservatism, liberalism is an ideology. James Burnham:

"An ideologue - one who thinks ideologically - can't lose. He can't lose because his answer, his interpretation and his attitude have been determined in advance of the particular experience or observation. They are derived from the ideology, and not subject to the facts."
