And after 55 years and over a half trillion invested in the “War Against Cancer” (why are we always fighting wars ?) I’m smart enough to look at the research, and the background of those who say vaccines aren’t safe and effective. Aside from religious and egg allergy concerns there is no legitimate reason to avoid vaccinations. The odd thing is those who oppose vaccines are more apt to take quack cures that actually are dangerous. All you have to do is look at the advancements in cancer research to see millions of lives have been saved, or at least extended as a result.
That’s just the thing. You don’t do your own research. You just take your marching orders just like the MAGA types you’ve referenced in five states. Every year roughly 4,500 drugs or medical devices PREVIOUSLY APPROVED BY THE FDA are recalled, for various reasons, including injuries and deaths. But when the preacher shouts “Safe and Effective!” you’re slain in the Spirit and you roll in the aisle. And it is HIGHLY debatable that more lives have been saved than lost via chemo, radiation, massive does of steroids, biopsies, surgeries, etc.
I’m not a researcher but I’m smart enough to trust the scientists who actually do the research. As far as recalls go it’s usually the company doing the recall because of mistakes made in the production of the drugs, so take your chances big guy. I’m pretty sure I’ll outlive you.

Continuing on the topic of cancer treatment and the fear of funding cuts to research … Years ago my dad was diagnosed with cancer and died six months later. Was it the cancer or the radiation that ravaged his body and left him a living skeleton in his final weeks ? Last year a young friend of mine was, as an active young adult, was diagnosed with melanoma and only lasted a few months. Was it the melanoma of the radiation, chemo and massive doses of steroids that left her bloated beyond recognition, delirious much of the time, unable to walk and falling out of bed in her final weeks ? Nearly twenty years ago my baby sister was diagnosed with adult onset leukemia and given less than two years to live without a bone marrow transplant. She had the procedure done and it was a hellish experience. She is thankfully still with us, albeit “immunocompromised.” Ironically (wildly so) a close friend of hers was diagnosed with the same time with the same type of leukemia. She was ineligible for the transplant, but is still with us. I can’t say for sure what I would do if I was diagnosed with cancer. But against the hysterical fear of funds being cut … I submit that we are not asking enough questions.
Well fella, all I can say is if you get cancer, and most likely you will, rely on thoughts and prayers from your friends and family and don’t get treated. In the meantime stay out of the way of those of us who believe in cancer research who want that choice.

A study from '13 - '19: "We found that overall influenza vaccine uptake (6 months and older) had a statistically significant protective association with the P&I death rate. This translated to a 0.33 (95% CI: 0.20, 0.47) per 100,000 population reduction in P&I deaths in the influenza season per 1% increase in overall influenza vaccine uptake." That's pretty big as P&I is at 14.1 per 100k. The 12th leading cause of death. I mean, if you think a virus is a thing. (That guy still around?)
