Reinforces my comment in the Extend Golden thread when I commented that CTG might go to UNC because it will be an easier path to winny a Natty, much like Bowden went there for FB.

Is it as easy as Auburn, Duke, Houston are pretty much locked into the first 3 one seeds with UF, Bama, Tennessee all battling for the last spot? Bama plays us and Tenn before year end, so their path would be win both and they get it? UF wins out and it's ours, same for Tennessee.

In 1980s football, this made sense because the “playoff” was restricted to two teams. Lose and you’re out. In basketball, you just have to be in the top 30 to make the NCAA tourney, regardless of your conference. It might be easier at this point to win a conference crown at UNC, but if anything, one would think the SEC would better prepare a team for the tournament.

Doesn't matter if we can't hit fouls shots.

At this point in the season we're likely a 1 or 2 seed lock. Remember we won our first NC as a 3 seed. I'm not nearly as concerned about the seedings as how we're playing heading into the NCAAT, if we're fully healthy, and who we're matched up against. We've beaten two #1s already this year, but lost to lower teams. If we bring our A game I like our chances against anyone, regardless of seeding or even location

Yea, the winning part is the key. One seed doesn’t happen unless we win, can’t count other teams losing. Win or don’t be surprised if you slip.

if they have to come to SF, I’m in LA and me and my girl will represent. This is a couple in a lifetime team, fly out.

Arizona is a different time zone than Cali actually. It’s central and mountain. Cali PST.

Honestly, I would rather have a bit lower seed and be closer to our fan base. I think our players get up for that. JMHO.

I dunno. 1-seed or 2-seed? There's not much difference, and if they do as projected, they would face each other in the Regional Final. But of course, after the first round, it's usually a battle every game. Almost every team in the field can challenge you.

Arizona is MST but doesn’t observe daylight savings so they will be the same time zone as Cali starting next Sunday.

If we beat Bama, we should be a number one seed. Indianapolis in the Midwest. If a 2, Raleigh then to Newark.

I don’t think that if you have great success at a school like Florida it makes you leave to be an ACC coach because it’s easier. I don’t think the Bowden reference applies here. Back then in football there was no tournament to expose the fact you were a weaker opponent. With the SEC being dominant now, the job at UF would be a better job at the moment. ACC basketball has fallen to the ranks of ACC Football now that NIL is in play

lol. How many national titles has UNC won in the last 20 years? Not more than we have. May be easier to get highly rated preps, but it’s a different story on a single elimination tournament.

UF is not a better job than UNC. UNC is one of 5-6 schools that it isn’t even debatable. They are a Blue Blood. Conference doesn’t matter when you have every resource.

OK, let me explain my reasoning. BB went to the ACC instead of the SEC to join the weaker conference as it would provide an easier path to a Natty. Same for the SEC/ACC now as in the ACC, it would be easier to obtain a higher NCAAt seeding, thus, and easier path to a NAtty.

Well, that, but also because the SEC did not want FSU and was not going to let them join. This was in the day before rampant conference realignments.

With the use of more sophisticated analyses by the seeding committee, I don’t even think this is true. Sure, this year, any ACC team has a better chance at getting through their conference unscathed, but they also have fewer chances at good wins. Right now, the bracket matrix projection has two SEC teams on the top line with two others competing to get in. It one ACC team on the top line, and the next one is projected as a 5 seed.

You could look at this as, look how easy it would be to win the ACC! But what I see is, look how much more likely an SEC team is to be competing for a top seed!
