The most likely explanation is that the story conflated two different categories of Venezuelans, those who become citizens and exercised their right to vote by voting for Trump and those whose Temporary Protected Status will be withdrawn making them eligible for deportation back to the Maduro's socialist paradise and by the way the latter category very likely includes relatives of Venezuelans in the former category. Venezuelans who have acquired US citizenship tend to vote the same way that Cuban Americans do for the same reason, Republicans have much more vigorously opposed the Marxist governments of the homelands. Said it before if there was still a Soviet Union and Venezuela was an ally of the Soviet Union Venezuelan immigrants would be welcomed and automatically granted refugee status as have Cubans for decades although even the status of Cubans now depends on how they entered the US with those that end up on a beach in Florida being treated better than those who crossed the border from Mexico Edit: The story itself was accurate. OH I am LMAO because a similar thing happened to me. I was going up the escalator in DC visiting my son. He yelled, "Dad" so I waved (while taking my hand off my suitcase). The suitcase started going down while the escalator was going up. I tried to chase it and lost a shoe, my jacket and my new $30 metro card. Twisted my ankle and all we did was walk all week.
