Dont get too excited Skink, I simply didnt see it, was busy responding to Wanne I guess. As for your question, I was happy to end the 2024 season strong and finally get a bowl game that we could easily win for a change. Not so thrilled getting blown out by Miami and blowing a winnable game vs UT. The entire season counts, not just the finish. 7-5 regular season was no doubt an improvement but not close to the "Gator standard" for a third year. Btw, the 9 wins in 2025 is for the regular season and would be a significant step up. Bowl games are an unknown. I actually think the schedule is tougher in 2025 than 2024. Those big late season wins last year vs lsu and ole miss will be road games in 2025 and much tougher. Responding to Gatorhead comments above, I am cautiously optimistic for 2025. Got to beat Miami which wont be easy or the hot seat will quickly resurface. In the meantime I am "thrilled" with the basketball team's season and looking forward to more of the same from the softball and baseball teams.
I ain't gonna lie gtr2x - Got to beat Miami which wont be easy or the hot seat will quickly resurface. This scares the shyatt out of me. LSU and Miami, LSU and Miami, LSU and Miami - Can't start slow after we beat Canon Fodder 1 and 2 (although USF is more like "decent cannon fodder" - ask Bama). The hue and cry for a public lynching will resonate throughout Alachua County if we are 2-2. I will probably be among them. I like Billy but am out of patience for .500 or .600 ball - ENOUGH! Last years slow start against Miami and tamu looked like A Power 4 school playing a JC. It was beyond terrible. But, I'm digging the projected 2 deep making the rounds now for 25. It sure looks to me like UF could do some damage, especially if the receiver corp gets settled. Harris or no Harris, the defense is expected to be improved / playing at the level of the last half of 24, if not better, IMO. For me personally, UF just might be back to that "Gator Standard" in 25 that we are all hoping for and expecting!
Can it soill over to football. I do enjoy when our ladies kick ass at softball but its no even close to the same thing.
Ol miss threw for a ton of yards, the front seven it what got better and we did have some dbs making some hits.
More confused than “excited” — any logical person who would be “thrilled” with 9 wins in 2025 would also be thrilled with 8 wins in 2024 — but with all the complaining that didn’t seem to be the case. Thanks for clearing that up for me
Why would the D automatically be as good or better? We lost experienced talent on that side of the ball that we certainly haven't replaced in the portal. We also lost a coach who I assume had at least some hand in shoring up the secondary play after players began dropping like flies with injury. I don't think its a given that the D will continue to play like it did in the last half of last season. I think I might just be a little too shell-shocked by the years of historically terrible D to put too much faith in a half year turn-around continuing unabated into the following year. I guess I'm still very much in show me mode with hopes that any drop-off in play is minor and temporary as new players learn their new roles.
Last year, Mertz claimed that he was excited for what Callaway was bringing to the offense. I do not recall seeing anything super exciting, as far as offensive playcalling goes. Hopefully, ...
You asked, I answered. Reading comprehension is a good thing,, but I guess you were too busy typing out your usual rant towards anybody that doesn't share your opinion.to actually decipher what I said.. I said regular season so it is 7 vs 9 and with a tougher schedule in 2025. That is a big step up in my book. Why ask for an opinion, if you're just gonna then respond in the above manner. Thanks for reinforcing the opinion that responding to your posts is a total waste of time. . Adios.
Why all the hostility? All because I asked you a question and then explained why I asked? I even thanked you for clearing up a little confusion. Maybe you have me confused with somebody else
