Golden apparently hinted it makes sense to ease up in the SEC Tournament

No coach should ever have this conversation in public. It's just not very tasteful. Play every game to win.

 

Meh, call me old school but you play to win the game. I view getting #1 a seed as a feather in the cap, something UF has only done a couple times. But even if we supposedly lock up the #1 or we slide to #2 you still play to win the SECT. I don’t think the stats show too much difference between #1 or #2 anyway. Not like it’s an easy path to a final 4. Either way bracket luck and upsets drastically change how any given team’s path “looks” on paper, and they’ll still have to go out and beat some teams.

With potential back-to-back-to-back games it does make sense to limit some guys minutes though. We were playing only 7 or 8 for awhile, we could be 10 deep by the SECT.

 

Always try to win the games, but the SEC this year is a different kind of beast. You could very well be playing three top ten team three days in a row. Whoever wins…well….it is going to take something out of you.

For the bubble teams, it is do or die.

 

Yea as a 1 or 2 seed we’ll still need to beat good teams to reach the FF

If it is Golden vs Pearl, I'd like to see something resembling an NBA All Star game.

Better yet, an under the table agreement that all shots are 3 pointers.

 

Terrible idea. You risk losing momentum and a seed line.

 

Another terrible showing on the road for Florida.

After the Georgia loss, FLorida drops to a 2 seed and is probably in Duke's bracket.

 

This is why I don't like the idea of relaxing (ease up) in some games. I don't know if CTG really said that but if he did, I'm sure he is re thinking that idea.
Should never ever relax in any game. Team becomes complacement when treating other games unimportant. Should always play hard coach hard in every game like it's the superbowl.

 

Too late for that...currently. We are a 2 seed as of now. Duke took our 1 seed spot along with Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee. To get a 1 seed we have to make it to the SEC title game. Put it this way, we win 2 of the next 3, lock in the 2 seed. We win the first game in the SEC tourney and bow out after that and most likely we are still a 2 seed. I think coach is playing for a 2 seed and resting guys and getting boos boos tended to. No sense killing ourselves to get a 1 seed only to lose in the first round to a fresh team.

 

The committee has kind of shown they do not care about making the conference finals.
