Analyses of DOGE’s claims show that what Musk and his team of 19 year old/20s reporting isn’t accurate.

    2 separate investigations:

“Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency touts cuts of $55 billion in federal spending, often citing canceled DEI and climate contracts. However, a Wall Street Journal analysis of government contract data showed a much different picture: “Woke” cuts were a tiny fraction of the total, and many claims of savings were overstated. —and about 2% of the funds would have gone to contracts related to DEI.

DOGE terminated more than 60 Health and Human Services contracts including a clinical evaluation of an Alzheimer’s and traumatic brain injury drug and a study of smokers with chronic lung disease. DOGE described these as “administrative expenses.”

More than a quarter of the contracts listed by DOGE were actually already paid, the Journal found, saving no money.

Even as DOGE edited the numbers, the total savings listed on its site remained overstated,”

    WSJ:

“But the math that could back up those checks is marred with accounting errors, incorrect assumptions, outdated data and other mistakes,

While the DOGE team has surely cut some number of billions of dollars, its slapdash accounting adds to a pattern of recklessness by the group, which has recently gained access to sensitive government payment systems.

Some contracts the group claims credit for were double- or triple-counted. Another initially contained an error that inflated the totals by billions of dollars. In at least one instance, the group claimed an entire contract had been canceled when only part of the work had been halted. In others, contracts the group said it had closed were actually ended under the Biden administration.”

Trump supporters who lost their jobs through DOGE "improvements" are writing Trump and begging for their jobs back. They are hoping that by demonstrating their fealty to the emperor, they might be able to get their jobs back. Good luck with that. If Trump gives one guy his job back, they will all write him letters non-stop. It will probably take a food safety incident before Trump hires them back, and then we get to listen to "Who knew that food safety could be so complicated?"

It's weird that it seems relevant to call them out for errors .....

.... when they don't mind plain old constant public lying.

(wondering if they're still eating the dogs in Springfield, Ohio? )

The former administration was thrown because food prices were too high. If the rate of inflation averaged less than 3% for the last four years there would still be Democrat in White House and both Houses of Congress would have Democrat majorities.

DOGE cost-cutting schemes may save some money in the short-term, but I fear they will cost US much, much more in the long-term...

they fumbled the ball on the border too, and on the whole choice of a terrible candidate. inflation wasn't the only issue but it was a big one. dems failed to get the message out that inflation was worldwide and US led recovery by far, document what they did for drug prices, consumer protection, and what they were doing for inflation along with inflation trend lines

That is the private equity rule book. Cut everything, keep the savings, dump the company a few years later which is now worse off and have higher debt. Rinse and repeat.

DOGE might be the most incompetent, wasteful, government program yet. In the end, they might just settle on eliminating themselves and saving the government a couple million.

no worries, site has been taken down.

if we quit counting, nobody will die

this whole fact checking transparency rules thingy sux

DOGE deletes its 'wall of receipts' after massive errors pointed out

The Department of Government Efficiency has removed its so-called "wall of receipts" detailing its cuts to the federal budget after its purported savings were found to be riddled with errors.

Elon Musk's budget-cutting initiative has deleted all of the five biggest “savings” that had been posted on its website. It followed fact checks from media outlets, although the group still claims it has saved the government $65 billion. The website provided no explanation for the removals or its methodology for determining how much had been slashed from the budget, reported the New York Times.

"The 'wall of receipts' is the only public ledger the organization has produced to document its work," the newspaper reported. "The scale of that ledger’s errors — and the misunderstandings and poor quality control that seemed to underlie them — has raised questions about the effort’s broader work, which has led to mass firings and cutbacks across the federal government."

The last of the top five disappeared early Tuesday morning from DOGE's website, and the Times reported that some of the new canceled contracts added this week appear to contain the same types of errors that plagued the original top five, which included a reported $8 billion cut at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, $655 million cut at the U.S. Agency for International Development and $232 million at the Social Security Administration.

So…. We are finding out that Elon has lied about everything so far AFTER implying he was doing such a great job we’d all get $5000 rebates? LOL. It couldn’t be going worse for him. He’s the face of government firings and will have to walk back his $5000 statement sooner or later.
