They certainly were not doing anything productive for healthy people to communicate. Doing a procedure is different.

This was before the pandemic. And no...I am not saying a dentist should work on a patient without a mask. But showing the lack of evidence when it comes to them actually providing protection...

Why Face Masks Don’t Work: A Revealing Review - John Hardie, PhD, Oral Health Group (2016) - Evidence Not Fear

Then you have the Cochran Review post pandemic which pretty much clarifies what we have known...

Do physical measures such as hand-washing or wearing masks stop or slow down the spread of respiratory viruses? | Cochrane

The virtue signaling has done nothing to prove masks do a anything to help prevent the spread of airborne illnesses like the flu or Covid. Mask away if you wish. All you are doing is providing your great virtue. Which most just roll their eyes at today.

Virtue away if you wish. The evidence to this day continues to point to the fact masks do not slow or stop the spread of airborne illnesses. It is just reality. But you can live outside that if you wish.

Masks are face-mounted anxiety placebos that also function as Politico-cultural boundary markers.

Spent 2 days in the hospital 3 weeks ago. Noticed some staff wore masks and the doctors that visited me maybe 2 out of 5 did. The Neuro doctor wore one the first day but none the second. I asked one of the cleaning staff why they did not during every visit to my room and the Neuro doctor the second visit without the mask. Cleaning lady said it was because some on my floor had diseases that were airborne, and only required in those rooms. Said I was at the end of their route so they kept them on. The Neuro pretty much said the same. The lady who drew blood from me at all hours of the night didn’t wear a mask. The one who did during the day wore one.

Masks serve no purpose, in a medical setting, other than adding an element of foreboding and frightening patients who are sick and who may be dying.

debating Q on covid and masks is pointless. it is black and white in his world and if it doesn't work 100%, it doesn't work. good luck with that

    And you would be wrong.

They at least protect the doctors from blood born pathogens splashed during surgery and other infected fluids that might come from a patient in the course of care.

The fact that masks are found after a few hours to contain a multitude of bacterial matter when analyzed, as these travel in the moisture of the air we breath, would seem to indicate they are filtering the user's breath.

If viral and bacteria infections are dose (length of exposure) dependent we would have to reason that properly worn masks are doing something to down filter the moisture in our breath to which the pathogens are attached.

Show us that masks work. You are the one who ignorantly tried to equate wearing a mask in surgery is the same as protecting from an aerosol disease. All the evidence we have indicates masks are pointless for aerosol diseases. Yet you just so bad want your great virtue to be right. Even though there is no evidence that it is.

At least you are correct here in that masks have a use in surgery. Granted there is actually not a lot of evidence to prove that they are necessary either (I am not saying a surgeon or dentist like my wife should not wear one when working on a patient).

You see that is the fallacy in your argument. YOU are saying that they are completely pointless. I am merely suggesting that there are MANY reasons to wear them besides airborne diseases. And you need to remember pathogen transmission is dose dependent, so anything that potentially can lead to less of a dose, might be worth continuing to wear.

Now tell me again, where is the guidance for surgeons not to wear a mask in operating rooms?

No. You came out and tried to equate wearing a mask in surgery to wearing a mask for a disease like the flu or covid. That is you. Now you want to back track. And even in doing so you cannot even prove they are necessary in surgery. Again I am not suggesting a doctor go maskless in surgery. But you will struggle to prove the necessity.

At the end of the day. You cannot prove your great virtue. As the evidence suggest you are wrong. But the propaganda won the day with your mind. Hopefully you will look at reality and not make ignorant claims like you did before. Or just stay 3/6/9/12/18/etc feet from somebody...LOL!

Not in 2025. I've had two kids injured in the past 6 months (sports and dance) and my wife was in an accident in 2023... And I have had hernia surgery twice. (2022 and 2023). In those cases, No one was wearing masks (required too at least) in the waiting room or even in the exam rooms at many of those facilities.

That may be a regional thing, but it hasn't been the norm here in several years now.

And no, I am not an anti masker. I enforced the states mask mandate in 2020 without a second thought.

Let's build a wall around California--at least until they get control of their skank contagions...

Make em mask up, tested, and get *vaxed* before crossing the border to the rest of the states.

Of course we can just continue spending like drunken sailors in a spending orgy, without ever having to worry about any consequences at all, ever!

(... well, at least until we buckle, collapse and fracture like the USSR at the end of the cold war... just like y'all's Chicom puppet masters desire, and have been working hard to get to happen through "the People's Party").
