I saw a podcast interview with her that I think @ricksj1 posted a few months ago. And your assessment seems right on. She seems like genuinely good person. I look forward to following her for the next 4 years. Amazing talent, for sure, but every indication is that she is a more amazing person.
I think all will agree that we've looked a little sloppy on defense so far. Last year the team fielded at .975. After 19 games this year we're at .973, so not much difference. Room for improvement, of course. I see the batting order being more dangerous top to bottom this year and the pitching depth much better. Time will tell if Ms. Oxley will be as good as expected, as she still has to prove herself. My educated guess is that she's going to have her moments, but overall will be excellent. Also, Rothrock is in better shape and Ava seems to have perfected her change-up and is a real battler. Team ERA last year was 2.93. Keagan was at 2.59, Ava 3.59. Rothrock had 101 BB's to 201 K's. Brown had 58 BB to 68 K's. I know the competition will ramp up considerably, but right now our team ERA is 2.15, with Keagan at 1.51 and Ava at 2.03. Rothrock has 5 BB to 39 K's. Brown has 10 BB's to 21 K's. Both strikeout to walks ratios are significantly better this year - at least so far.
Wednesday’s game with FGCU is Showing to be on SEC+ per their website. UF website shows nothing. SSDD.
11 players with an OPS of 1.000 or greater. 7 players with the most ABs are all over 1.1 OPS. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
In support regarding the streaming status of the FGCU/UF softball game, my AppleTV ESPN app indicates that the game will be streamed on SECN+..
UF's next five games are against mid majors and only two have winning records barely. It is going to be a slaughter-fest. Wish they scheduled some better teams preconference.
I agree, UF is in control of who attends the Florida Invitational. Of course we don’t know the whole story. Major competition may not want to come to KSP just before their conference schedules start.
We used to have a very impressive pre conference schedule when I first started following softball, not sure why that has changed. However things seem to be working out well so I guess CTW knows what he’s doing
I recall that as well. However, this schedule does allow CTW to give many bench players playing opportunities. This is good for everyone - CTW gets to see what they've got, they get satisfaction contributing into the team concept, and we get to see what the future holds.
She was dressed and coached 1st base for all the Phoenix games. She looked fine - no problems getting around. So my guess would be a nagging injury, or a red shirt. Let's face it - our outfield is pretty set this year. On the other hand, Hovermale was not dressed for the games in Phoenix, altho she appeared to get around just fine. I saw an earlier question - Coach Anea was there for all games in Phoenix functioning normally. I guess Thomas just wanted to participate in the game.
