I have come to expect very good second halves from this team, coaches are doing good things in that locker room
Overcoming adversity! This team gave a clinic on that tonight. Chinyelu and Haugh had GREAT 2nd halfs. The team was +20 in the paint. But once again I credit the defensive intensity for getting the turnaround going. LSU was hitting some really hard shots and the Gators kept plugging. Stuck together, got a bunch of fast break points and took control of the game down the stretch. It is HARD to win on the road in the SEC and these guys pulled out another one in convincing fashion. Now on to Georgia and another challenge in Athens.
Love having Handlogten back. He's had an impact in all 3 games he's played. Gotta work on those free throws, though.
This game could have gone really sideways, but they clearly decided to play their game in the second half and we get a win because of it. Championship level second half. Go Gators!
Fishback has lost his damn mind! One bad 10 minutes of basketball in the last 6 games and he is questioning our leadership. Looking for perfection or something.
Little bit of a nail biter around the half. Close games like this are preparation for the tourney, both SEC and NCAA. Solid road win. Happy for the team!
That stretch in the first half was maybe our worst stretch of basketball all season. But I still thought we would win.
T. Haugh in the post game interview with SEC Now confirmed what was said earler....coach ripped them at half and put the fire in them to come back out and take it to the Tigers. I keep getting more and more impressed with CTG with every game.
Chinylu - 19 points (8-of-14 FG, 3-of-3 FT, 13 Reb, 2 Blk, 2 Asst, 1 TO) HaughT - 16 points (7-of-9 FG, 2-of-2 3pt, 10 Reb, 1 Stl, 1 Blk, 3 Asst, 1 TO) MartinA - 14 points (4-of-13 FG, 2-of-4 3pt, 4-of-7 FT, 6 Reb, 1 Asst, 0 TO) Clayton - 13 points (5-of-16 FG, 2-of-8 3pt, 1-of-1 FT, 6 Reb, 2 Stl, 2 Blk, 0 Asst, 0 TO) DenzelA - 11 points (5-of-9 FG, 0-of-2 3pt, 1-of-1 FT, 2 Stl)
Wow, talk about turning it on. A great 30-17 run in the final 12 minutes. Outscored them 48-28 in the second overall and two huge runs took the air out of LSU. Great second half response by the team.
We play less than our best against top teams and we lose. FIsh was right. I'm glad he said it. Think we would have won at Auburn without playing two great halves? He said we were a Final 4 team but couldn't give up a run like we did in March.
this game shows how we can't get complacent at all even for 2-3 minutes...we started to think we had this game in the bag then boom they go on a 22-2 run. This is the SEC, and on the ROAD is no joke in this league. Amazing that we can just turn it on, even down 2 rotational players, but we should have never been in that place to begin with. Never let down.
I agree 100%. All Fishback was saying is that if we have one bad half in the tournament, that could be all it takes to get us knocked out. If we don't have one of those bad halves, we have a very good chance to win the whole thing...that's all Fishback was saying.
I saw that too. Did he get hit in the head and forget what we did @ Auburn 14 days ago? 48 points in the first half and 42 in the second? 90 points and near 10 points win on the home court of the #1 team? Seems pretty complete to me with great team leadership. Guess he has a short memory.
Fought through some adversity there. Wish it didn’t have to happen but it’s good for the immediate future
