He's three star rather than a four star and he was never the commander or even deputy commander of a major command. His predecessor Gen. C.Q. Brown was the Air Force Chief of Staff and was the commander of United States Air Forces Central Command (USAFCENT). He was deputy commander of United States Central Command. As AFCENT commander, Brown oversaw all of Air Force operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, while also second-in-command of USCENTCOM.[12][13]

I doubt very much the general said any such thing. Next Trump will be swooning about the love letters they exchanged.

Very impressive, and highly qualified, so of course Trump gives him the boot.

Lloyd Austin's waiver to serve as Sec. of Defense was identical to that of Jame Mattis. In the case of both retired generals insufficient time had elapsed between the end of their military service and their nominations to as Secretary of Defense requiring their waivers. Austin didn't receive a waiver based on lack of qualifications and he was infinitely better qualified than Pete Hegseth as were every one of Hegseth's predecessors, Hegseth being undoubtedly the least qualified nominee for the position of Secretary of Defense since that cabinet post was created by Congress in 1947.

Lloyd Austin was 4 star. They didn’t waive a qualification. They waived a requirement that he wasn’t retired long enough. So not roughly equivalent. However I don’t exactly think Lloyd Austin was a great leader of DOD either

I already feel safer as we’re more selective in the military, our border and our leaders.
Americans can sleep better knowing the adults are back in charge.
DEI is for losers who want to check boxes and give out participation awards.

He didn't meet the requirements of the position but they waived the requirements anyway. So that literally means he wasn't qualified for the job. So he's what I believe is called a DEI hire.

Doesn’t sound like you’re qualified to post yet you do. Must be a DEI poster

Joe Stalin was the last leader who purged generals he considered insufficiently loyal. Didn't work out very well for the Soviet Union during the early years of World War II. By placing loyalty above competence Trump could be doing similar damage to US readiness. Fortunately, we're not involved in an active war. Trump's criteria seems to include reverse DEI. With absolutely no evidence he has made the assumption that minorities and women appointed to senior command positions are unqualified. It also probably reflects his personal racism and sexism.

If he is confirmed he will be promoted to Four-Star General.

Who was responsible for the terrible leadership as President that left a million dead Americans during COVID?

And how about these US Navy accidents that Trump was reponsible for?

It is not about stars, it is about what they represent as far as experience, and this guy doesn't have it.

When you tell someone something they don't know, that is actually factual, on this message board, it will be a first.
