Apparently he doesn't even meet the lower standard of being just equally qualified.

 

For Trump he needs to only meet these qualifications:
* Straight
* White
* Male

 

Trump's purge of female and minority flag officers with white guys who will place loyalty to the Dear Leader above loyalty to the Constitution and the rule of law. In addition to the generals Trump has also canned the Judge Advocates General of the Army, Navy and Air Force, an obvious indication that he doesn't want to deal with senior military attorneys who place their oath to defend the Constitution above absolute personal loyalty to him.

Is he eligible? He is retired and not a current four star general. Supposedly that is a requirement for the position. I have not verified this myself yet.
