I meant to post this the other night but forgot. I have never heard a coach say this at halftime. I LOVE the killer instinct. He told the reporter that with the huge lead at halftime, the goal was now to "win by 30" Generally at halftime a coach gives you coach speak with a big lead, but TG basically said, yes we are killing them, but our goal is to kill them worse. THAT is what the program has missed for years I love it and guarantee the kids do too.
Yeah I caught that too and did a doubletake. Usually as you say the halftime interviews are coachspeak. Coaches learn to never say anything that will bite them later on. Because things happen, leads evaporate, and they are sensitive to criticism. I get it. Golden is cut from a different cloth. Almost Spurrier-esque even... Not that he's Spurrier- there's only one of those... But with the attitude of "we are going to win, we should win, and we are going to win" mentality. I love this guy!!
This was Golden being real and true to himself. This wasn’t rehearsed, he wasn’t showing off…this is just who we have as our fearless leader. And the Spurrier-esqu is right on.
Mike White would say, "Our goal is to expand the lead to seven with eight minutes to go, then milk the clock and until the game ends." It's so inspiring I get goosebumps.
This is a winner's attitude. You can see it in our players eyes when we get a lead, even late in the game. They want to step on the neck of every team and break their will. As SC said after the game "When theyre making 3s from the logo, it is deflating".
love it too. we were up by 29 with <4 minutes left, with our starters on the bench for the last 10 minutes so I'd say we were pretty close
