There's nothing inherently wrong with what he said, it's all in how it would be implemented and how voluntary participation would be. Current options for recovery centers are ridiculously poor. Would love to see an improvement in this area, but man, would it be expensive to fund.

    Go GATORS!

He still said it. Care to comment on the actual content or just more deflection bullshit?

They won’t fund mental health treatment for any uninsured person. They’ll need a much cheaper final solution.

There are a bunch on this forum that need that camp. Gator Jo for sure.

"Wellness farms?" It sounds like he's venturing perilously close to "hippie commune," territory.

How about a guy with long history of drug abuse and claims a worm ate his brain?

Not sure if “camp material” or should be put in charge of the nation’s health. :emoji_joy:

I was a LEO and firefighter in Tampa for 30 years. Ran into a whole lot of mentally ill people living on the street, barely getting by. This would be better for them than on the street.

There is no such thing as mental illness.*

*Yes, I’m aware that some people see books flying at them

We need physical facilities in which the mentally ill among us can live. A lot of the homeless in my community are mentally ill and cannot take care of themselves. I say this based on my personal experience as head of a soup kitchen that feeds the poor and homeless and as a long time member of the 12 step community. Many people that eat with us at the kitchen and come to our meetings have serious mental issues from bipolar to schizophrenia to other dual diagnoses. There has to be a better way than what we are doing now (and have been for the last 20 years or so).

Yes I understand my comments are only anecdotal; but they are my personal experience.

I have no specific comment or rebuttal to Mr. Kennedy. He comes off as a whackadoodle to me on some things (like vaccines) but with others, like the foods we eat in the US and this issue, he seems to make some sense.

Surely you are joking, trying to provoke people... For the love of all that is good, please say your not foolish enough to believe there is no such thing as mental illness.
