The issue with having more than one person in charge is that it significantly slows down decision making. That is typically way you have a CEO/President in the private sector and CG or Commanding Officer in the military that makes any final decisions. Often they have to explain their actions to a board or shareholders / JCJS for accountability. I think a possible model that would answer the mail on your concerns is a person in charge of the audit that has to present their findings and recommendations to a small committee and then need the committee to recommend those changes to the POTUS to sign off on them.

well, I would assume he has the clearance to access whatever systems he has accessed. I have no idea what clearance he has and I have no idea what credentials are required for each of the systems you mentioned require.

Given that Trump is the ultimate authority on who receives clearances Elon can now get what ever clearance he wants. I do recall and I may be mistaken that as CEO of Space X Musk actually didn't have a clearance as high as some of his employees although I'm sure that was changed effective January 20th or shortly thereafter.

that makes sense to me. Ultimately picking good people, despite potential conflicts, and acting with the most transparency practically possible would be key.

He can get whatever clearance Trump feels he needs. It’s not unusual for employees to have higher clearances than their bosses.

Yes, we know he has the clearance, because Trump has given Musk clearance to see whatever he wants to see. The question was should he have that clearance.

Given his role, he should probably have a clearance of some sort

Yes, given his role, he should have a clearance of some sort, but that doesn't mean carte blanch. And of course he shouldn't have that role in the first place, but $250 million buys that kind of access.

Given his role, he should root out the garbage the libbies have accumulated over the decades…
So lucky Musk is willing to take out the trash.
Anyone opposed is clearly a govt lover who wants more govt and increased taxes AT ALL COSTS.

I’m amazed at all the love people are giving to government workers. They should write their congressman urgency big pay raises for them.

So if Trump had chosen Pompeo, HR McMaster, or Mike Rogers to do the audit of the IC, would you be OK with them doing it?

Reportedly Musk had a TS Clearance during the Biden Admin, so it does not appear this is something that Trump ordered Musk to have in the last four months.

There was no need for any of them We already had IGs for all the departments. Trump fired them all.

IG's do not conduct structural reviews or management audits of agencies to determine where cuts are can and need to be made. IG's role is to be called in after something happened that should not have to determine why that thing went wrong.

So I take it you do not think that any Executive Agency needs an outside review of their current size versus their given responsibilities.

A great deal of what IGs do (auditing, investigating fraud) overlaps with what Musk is supposed to be doing. Trump fired them to get them out of the way. The rest of it (size, scope, and spending levels of government agencies) is (or should be) determined by congress, not Elon Musk. Trump bringing in his own guy (who spent $250 million to get Trump elected) is not an 'outside review'.

I assume that includes the libbie who occupied the White House from 2001 through 2008 as well the libbie who occupied the White House from 2017 through 2000 and for 10 of their 12 years were aided by libbie majorities in one or both Houses of Congress.
