I would like to agree but just can't. I have a hard time with that one because we were down four with a few seconds left so Mizzou just let Martin go and he chucked up a meaningless 3 from a mile away that went in and cut it to 1 point. If they had taken a point off the scoreboard for Mizzou earlier in the game, that last few possessions would have played out differently, especially them letting Martin shoot an uncontested 3, so we can't know how it would have ended.
I thought someone said he took off the boot and did warmup shooting either before othe game or at halftime. Did that happen?
Butterfly effect. Everything after that shot would have played out different. We may have won by 7. No one knows. The point being, that was a terrible miss. ESPN caught it before the commercial. We lost by that one point. Granted we should have won by 10 probably, but that doesn't change the fact that the call was very costly.
23 - 3 has a real nice ring to it! And it puts UF at over .500 in SEC play, which, in this league, any team with 10 conference wins is dancing and probably with a very nice seeding. Of course UF is chasing for an SEC regular season crown. The tamu loss is another step in that direction. Beat LSU!
Amazing stat - Urban might give "hump" a go in a three point shooting contest. His shot, ball spin, form and arc are special. Reminds me of World B Free - rainbow jumpers! I have ZERO issue with Urban lofting his pretty shot from anywhere. Clayton, Urban, Richard, Martin, Zel, Hough, Condo, good grief, if I was an opposing coach I would have nightmares in regards to preparation. Like ole coach Jimmie Dykes said last night when Walter is hitting 3's from the logo - "What can coach Moser do?" SMH. ...................... Indeed.
Shooting +60% from 3 in conference can have that effect!! Plus, his D has been good - moves his feet really well.
yes and very strange given what is at stake both in SEC league play but also the amount of gambling money at stake, that there wouldn't be a procedure - in 2025 - to point out to the officials at the commercial break that they clearly missed an obvious call and correct it. It's mind-boggling how those types of obvious mistakes can't be corrected in-game, with so much on the line. But then again, we're talking about the NCAA.
It was reported that he did the pregame shoot around without a boot in the ESPN recap. Florida 85-63 Oklahoma (Feb 18, 2025) Game Recap - ESPN
Pretty sure I remember Jimmy Dykes pointing the refs to a better replay than they had in a game last season. So the TV guys must be allowed to intervene to some extent. In that case, The refs didnt have as many angles as TV did and the TV view was a conclusive overturn. Anyone else remember this?
I sometimes think his release isn't elite-fast. He seems to dip the ball down below his ribs as part of the gather. I'd be curious how his release speed stacks up against others. A few years ago, commentators talked about this a lot, loved showing video.
He can't catch and shoot in one motion like Walter (IMO) and I won't argue his speed of release, but his shot, when he gets it off, is a thing of beauty, IMO.
Yes I remember this. It wasn’t Dykes though. Believe it or not, it was actually a play by play guy for Virginia, Cory Alexander, that did it. Tony Bennett lost it that he was helping us. I remember Alexander saying on the air something like, Bennett is upset with me. I’m sorry but the right call is the right call. I had a lot of respect for Alexander’s actions there. He ran on a treadmill for the 1st time yesterday and said he felt good. My guess is that the coaching staff will play things conservatively and sit him out against LSU - and that he'll possibly return on the 25th at Georgia.
