MVGs: The Florida Gators' terrific trio of senior guards led a crushing home victory over the Oklahoma Sooners. Blasting out to a 46-24 half-time lead, the seniors only played sparingly in the second half. Will Richard had a team high Value Score of 85, scoring 14 points while dominating on the defensive end grabbing 8 rebounds with 2 steals and a blocked shot. Walter Clayton Jr was high scorer with 18 points including 4-7 from the arc, while adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 0 turnovers in 27 minutes of play for a Value Score of 83. Alijah Martin rounded out the top three with 14 points, 5 boards and 2 steals and no turnovers in 27 minutes of play. Shoutout goes to sophomore guard Urban Klavzar who bounced back from a rough game against South Carolina to come off the bench in a blaze of fire knocking down his first three shots including a 3-pointer and ending up with 10 points in 22 minutes of play in this blow-out victory over the Sooners.

Thanks J - I'll have to consider your pt system for MVG in the Pick 'em next season. It looks like a pretty good measure.

Martin looked like early season Martin last night. Slashing and getting to the rim, crashing the boards and playing solid defense.

Gatordavisl, you were always a big supporter of these posts when I was doing them for every game several years ago. I kind of lost contact with Gator sports while I've been living in northern VA (NOVA). Then I saw this sports report about this Gator basketball team smoking #1 Auburn at Auburn. Found out my Verizon plan included SEC Sports Network so I decided to check them out again. Holy smokes. What happened! This current team has incredible depth, talent, experience and unbelievable height. Walter Clayton Jr is my favorite Gator player (true cold-blooded reptilian) of the current bunch. Heard the Gators got smoked at Knoxville after they previously crushed the Vols in Gainesville. Then I learned Clayton was injured in the game they lost. OK, that made sense. Had he been healthy, there is no way the Vols would have extracted their revenge, at least not in the dominant way it happened.

In any case, I decided this would be a real fun team to follow so I searched my laptop to find the old MVG spreadsheet template I created 15 years ago and previously used on this forum. As a matter of fact, a lot of the same people who are on NBN today, were posting back then. The NBN posters years ago actually gave inputs to help determine the box score weighting coefficients used to calculate the Value Scores. Nothing's perfect, but I've never seen anyone else measure player performance with a single score based purely on box score statistics. The other thing that shocked me when I decided to kick start this again was that the "PostImage" website where I stored the datasheets online still had all the games I posted from previous seasons. It's a free site so I'm not sure how they are making money, but it was cool to go back and see the box score Value Score analytics I did for Gator BB teams from 2010 thru 2020 were still accessible!

I'm also very impressed with tools now available to posters in the NBN forum. With a click of a button, I can now change font type, color, bold, underline, italicize and text size without writing coded scripts! I still need to remove some of my old formatting coding lines from my template because they are no longer needed. Ha, ha, ha. I don't think some of your posters realize how good they've got it. Uncle Ray is giving his posters free access to a Cadillac platform. This is light years better than what that young whiz kid was able to provide Swampie when he started the Swamp Gas Gator Rumors website in the early 90s. Anyway, good to be back. Glad to see a lot of familiar posters. A very loyal group indeed! I may yet return to Hogtown now that I'm retiring this year. Can't beat the energy of a college campus atmosphere where the student population never gets old. Go Gators!
