(VB) Ongoing Volleyball Thread

If the trip is in May, it would either occur during the open portal and beginning of summer semester or it would happen after the portal closes. This time line doesn't look like the players would get to test drive the new coach during practice and games and that their decisions would need to be made before next semester. I believe this would mean if they sign on and change their mind after the trip they would be entering the portal during a period that could cost them a year of eligibility. (Similar to when AK on softball entered portal). Was hoping they could get meaningful time with the staff as opposed to just talking with them. We will soon see how good his recruiting skills are. The team staying together and their potential is his greatest pro stay argument right now.

 

Prior to retiring in 2021, I worked for a large wholesale electrical distributor for 21 years. In 2011, the branch manager was promoted to a district job. There was a lot of branch support for our #1 salesman, who wanted the manager job. Which he ultimately got. All his coworkers. i.e. friends, were pleased. Assuming things would be status quo. I told a few of them to be careful what you wish for. To be blunt, it was a train wreck. Less than 18 months later, he was back in sales and we had a new manager. That no one knew. In 2015, we were the #1 branch in the company. Out of 250+ branches, #1 in almost every sales metric.

Maybe best to wait and see how this works out. Go Gators!

 

Short-term players don't get to pick long-term UF hires. Anyone who wants to move on rather than stay fully committed to UF should just go when the transfer window opens again in May.

Hutson hasn't done anything since Stanford in 2023 and may not be able to return to the court due to the nature of her shoulder injury.

Rothe would be a loss but again can't let any short-term player be involved in a long-term decision.

It's normal to not like and to resist change. We're 2 1/2 months away from the next portal window. It is likely that Coach Theis, pronounced Tice, will salvage any player that can be salvaged in that time.

 

He is an outstanding recruiter, and retains his players.
I am betting on him.
It will be interesting to see his staff. It would be a positive with players if he kept CK.

so far today on IG, I have seen: Madi, Taylor, KMart, Lauren, Kira, Ella, and Emily post the welcome photo from the tweet.

 

Does anyone know how Florida handles ancillary staff like athletic trainers and strength n conditioning for sports not named football? Just wondering if coaches get to fill those roles or do they get what tge university already has? I imagine the trainers are probably students but S&C coach i guess is what I'm interested in.

 

Gatorzone provides the staff for every sport....we aren't lacking in uaa employees lol
