I can't wait for us to get back to full strength. I thought defensive assignments were blown when Micah was in the game (to be expected). We looked discombobulated on defense at times. That will improve over time as Micah gets used to playing with the guys. The great news is that we don't have to rush Condon and/or Alexis back. I'll feel much more confident with Condon back, but pulling an experienced 7-1 rabbit out of our hat ain't bad at all!

How does one fit a 7’1” rabbit in a hat in the first place?

Micah was a great offensive rebounder but not that great as a rim protector. We were not that stellar at D last season with a lot of the same guys. Martin is a HUGE defensive improvement along with Chins and the development of Condon.

Handyman and the Chins. Sounds like a cop buddy flick.
I did see we played them together for short stints Saturday. I didn't expect that, but it seemed to work.

Well, let's not forget Richard and Clayton. They're both playing better defense this season. They're staying in front of their guys much better and not biting on the fake-and-drive so much.

with only a 3 man rotation bewteen 2 spots, everybody plays with everybody. There may be times where we go small and Haugh plays the 5 spot. That's why CRFG gets paid $4M/year, to make unexpected rotations.

Interesting that with Martin presumably healthy, Aberdeen is still projected on the first line for the Oklahoma game. Aberdeen tough to sit right now with his outstanding play.

definitely, I think you start Aberdeen then give Martin starter's minutes anyway. We're going to go through the same shuffle when Condo and Alexis are back, but that's a great luxury to have. Curious to see how we look again tonight. Almost game time

Actually, it didn't work that well. We gave up a lot of easy buckets during that stretch. I remember commenting to my buddy about that at the game. But first game back there are going to be lapses.

yes our transition defense during that stretch wasn't very good, but maybe they'll be able to play together more once Hands game conditioning improves

Not his best game, but every guy has off days. Haugh was MIA for much of the game too. Fortunately, we have enough weapons to just keep going forward.

Martin is a great defensive guard. Great hands, steals or loose balls or in your face defense. You see the concern in the faces of players he covers. Add to that great vertical jump for blocks and tremendous rebounder.
As for Chins, a physical player like Patrick Young, but longer arms. When he goes up around the hoop, I pity the fool who tries to get ball with him on it. How many times do we see him rip the rebound ball from others with pure brute strength and either pass or dribble it out. He is also imposing out to the top of the key and most players just pass the ball rather than trying their luck. He has a lot of energy in that he keeps up the pressure just like Martin.
Condon brought toughness to the team last year as soon as he hit the court. A tall, slim, muscular player that keeps up the pressure on anyone he guards and helps other players stop anything coming inside. He has learned once he gets the ball to keep pushing the transition game. Only going to get better as he grows into his body. Can’t wait till he gets back.
These three on the floor at the same time give us so many extra chances to score. A nightmare scenario for all opponents, just ask Auburn!

I agree, also I noticed klavsar had sticky defense and stayed in front of his man and gets around picks. With his shooting and defense, I can now see he was an excellent recruit.
