Useless but interesting stat. Gators play New Mexico State on Saturday. They are 4th in nation hitting homeruns with 21 in 11 games. The Gators are 2nd with 22 in 14.
I am looking forward to Katelynn getting her first innings in out west and for Liv, Ava and Kara to get more reps in. I mostly want to see how sharp “Red” is after a layoff. I am also hoping to see Towson get some bats and may be play in the outfield.
I heard through the grapevine that she’s been cleared to play and there’s a possibility she is taking live pitching today at practice. It’s all up to Coach, Stephanie and Red.
I had heard the 1st of March, but you seem to have more up to date info. If they are satisfied, I am too.
Anyone know what time the go/no go decision gets made? I kinda doubt that the team will head to Jacksonville for such a minor game given the forecast. Hopefully they announce early and save everyone a drive.
Are you going to the games this weekend in AZ? I plan on making those games as well. I am driving up from Tucson.
I also heard March 1st as a general consensus. So she may go through a couple of live starts with our team before she pitches to get the correct assessment. But it would be nice if she got in a few innings out west.
these ladies need some time off. I hope it rains them out tomorrow. I think fatigue played apart in that loss. Not only physical, but also mental.
Where are you based? Maybe we could meet up. I also am driving up, hopefully in time for the Cap Baptist opening pitch. I will try to sit behind the Gator dugout if possible. wearing my blue Gator cap. I suspect not too many people will be wearing a Gator cap.
Pure and simple. Red has not thrown for several months. Whenever she comes back and pitches, and I don't know when that will be...cut her some slack....there is a lot of rust to get rid of.
UR right -- I just hope the decision gets made based on the forecast and not travelling all the way there and then determining what the weather holds in the moment. That said, I kinda think CTW schedules this game to help out another softball program. It's by far the crappiest stadium we go to -- there are not even bathrooms on site, you have to walk down to the gym. But it is a huge moneymaker for JU. This game generates $30,000 for JU softball. All other games combined = zero.
I agree with you; CTW is good at helping out other programs. This is speculation, but maybe the team flies out of Jacksonville on Thursday, and they stay the night.
Yes since season started 13 days ago, they have only had 3 days off (2 of those days being this week). I would imagine they are tired and the lack of practice (since most games have only been 5 innings) finally showed up on Sunday. Hope they are getting much needed rest. Looking at it tomorrow's game being cancelled would not be bad, because who knows how late they will arrive to gainesville and wake up early to leave to tempe.
With as much depth as this team is said to have, seems like that we could be switching players out more and getting rest for the wearied ones. It’s going to be a long grinding season. Can’t have exhausted players losing key games later in the schedule.
