Players were advocating for Dave as late as yesterday. I REALLY HOPE no one enters the portal.

So players don't want to play for anyone not named Boos but enter the portal to definitely play for someone not named Boos. These kids really need to think eith their head and not heart. Just staying together and healthy almost guarantees them a sweet 16.

Lots of us respect/like Boos and obviously the players wanted him. Do we know for a fact that he wanted the job? He has two kids about to be teen agers. Maybe he wants to enjoy the job he has without taking on more responsibility that would take him away from family.

He's all about strategy, maybe he also doesn't want the NIL hassles of being HC? Anyone who has been at a public gathering with CMW could tell she hated the NIL part of it. Probably at least half the reason she left.

"Theis accumulated eight years of NCAA Division I coaching experience at various stops. In addition to his coaching duties, he spent six of those years in the role of recruiting coordinator at three different institutions."

Maybe Theis does the glad-handing and kisses the ass of donors and is the face of the program Head Coach for recruiting while Boos gets down with the team in the gym.

The more I think about this hire, he does come with Jenny Manz, who I loved as a pin hitter AND she came to UF with a personal friend of mine in Jen Sanchez in that 96 class. Those teams I affectionately called The Jens as we had 4-5 Jen/Jennifer/Jenny’s on the roster. They were great players and friends who are strong in their respective communities which I believe will help Gators VB with recruiting, etc. Theis is regarded as a very good teacher…I love that part of a coach’s work. And, we are Florida for heaven’s sake. All jmho. Feel bad for the Boos family uprooted etc. Go Gators

So he may not be my hire, or your hire or even the player's hire but he is THE hire. I can't imagine anyone being so sensitive to transfer in the middle of a semester. When exactly is the Euro trip? Very few players in any sport going through a coaching change get the chance to see how the staff will run a practice, manage a game and see first hand the philosophies and expectations before having to make that transfer decision. I don't know the dates but I assume it's before the end of semester in May, so I sure hope they all take their free trip to Europe with their teammates and give this a test run before making an emotional decision.

This is the typical Scott Stricklin hire. Mid-level guy, I hope he doesn't abuse the players like the soccer and basketball coaches did.

Except for Golden all the other have been complete failures thus far.

Looking at Theis past coaching history, I think SS made a good hire and would go as far to say this is the best hire he has done. Yes, Golden is good now, but he did not have the experience Theis had when hired. I do believe Theis is a good hire and he was very good as an assistant back when he was on staff. I think he did the best he could at marquette and elevated that program to new heights. However, since the girls were very vocal about wanting Dave, they very well could say FU to SS and hit the portal. Theis has to be having conversations with the girls tomorrow if he did not have them already today.

I love this hire. Former Gator assistant, married to a former UF Volleyball player who is from just up the road in Middleburg. Lots of coaching experience, plus a proven, very successful head coach at a D1 program. He may want to bring a couple of his better players with him to Florida, but I hope the core group of current Gators will at least meet with him, hear him out and seriously consider giving him a chance before they enter the portal. Mary Wise left a lot of talent and high quality young ladies for the new coach to inherit and there is potential for immediate success if they all stick together. Goo Gators!!

Do we know for a fact that Boos is out? Especially if Theis wants to prevent a max exodus and start on a good foot with the current team, why not keep Boos? He has solid VB chops. Could Theis really do better by bringing his own person?

Most of his top players graduated this past year, so I don't know who he could bring over that would make an immediate impact in SEC if a mass exodus happens. He go get people from the portal but idk who would be a good get, unless stars enter in may which most don't.

    FYI FROM VOLLEYTALK:

    TEAs:
    - Rothe’s Bible quote on IG story possibly indicates a transfer
    - Hutson expresses sadness on TikTok possibly indicating transfer
Worth noting that both Rothe and Hutson wanted Boos

Honestly, I'm just very nervous about transfers now. But I'm glad we got a great coach, we were between 3 solid options, not a bad situation. Whenever there's a full press release I surely hope it indicates that "associate head coach Boos will stay on in some capacity".

Most of the chatter on VolleyTalk seems to be pro-Boos, and not hiring him will cause a "mass exodus." I am very pleased with the hire-still puzzled why SMU's coach wasn't in the final 3-and am sure there were a lot of conversations between the student-athletes and the coaches. They are very aware of the loyalty the players have built with Boos and have treated this with the utmost respect and sensitivity of everyone involved with the program.

Radical thought here... Theis is the new coach, so support him, let him talk to the team collectively and individually, and then see how it goes. They might love the guy.

This is gonna be so much fun.

Ryan is a coach that retains his players. Players that sign with him stay. Other teams averaged 2.5 transfers a year.

Ryan recruited lights out as an assistant at Florida. Now he has Florida Victorious behind him and what an asset it is. We are a major NIL player. It’s a new ball game.

This team travels to Europe in May. Bet here is that almost all on the roster now will be on that trip.

Are we going to win a National Championship under Ryan? If I am right, we can do it this year. And the coming years are going to be exciting.

If your reasoning for hiring Boos is simply to keep the current team intact then he is not the right hire. This is a long term thing, not just about a year or two. Besides, many on here were getting tired of Mary and her inability to get over the hump yet wanted to hire someone directly on her staff with a direct hand in that inability to play up to the talent level they had on the team? Lol. At least be consistent.
