Im no going to get into how pathetic I think it is. Just couple curiosity questions.

    1. Why did sec feel need for it in baseball , but not softball? Would think oppo if anything.
    2. As long as runner touches green bag, does this completely eliminate the runners(home to 1st) interf. call they got wrong 9/10 times in past(IMO)?
3.. i heard runner MUST use green bag when running through base(not rounding toward 2B). Is fielder allowed to use green bag for out? Like P covering, bad throw, etc.

and lastly, just sillyness here. can schools choose color of the sissy bag? Can Bama have a crimson colored one for ex?

Some game I was watching was under review on bang bang play at 1b. Announcer was saying he thought more difficult to tell on darker colored bag..??

My thought to self was.. 'why we shouldnt have either'(replay/2 bags)

It could certainly be called LB bag..'Little Bi...s Bag'

Really just wondering why sec chose only baseball not softball.. Way more bunt, etc type situations it would come into play in SB.IMO??

No idea who made the call, but Sankey has the title, and I cant stand him, so blaming him..;)

Using orange bag in LMU-Cal Poly game..lol

I don’t mind either way. It’s not like players are supposed to collide at first base, so a second bag doesn’t really change the game here.

    Some nuances spelled out here:

    https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/ch...l/rules/2024-25PRMBA_RulesInterpretations.pdf

I had the same question about whether or not the fielder can use it for an out, and it appears the answer is no. It also appears that it only applies to the hitter/runner that has not reached first base yet. Once first base is reached, it is like the green bag doesn't exist any more for that runner.

    Go GATORS!

The "dropped third strike" rule sounds a lot like a game of chicken ...

Translation: Pray the last pitch sticks in the mitt.

Edit: It's a bit clearer in WESGATORS's interpretations file above, thankfully. It's at the runner's discretion to go white.

Well perhaps that is potential issue, though separate from the “wussification” angle. Perhaps the bag itself can contribute to injuries. If so, its value would be assessed via comparison of the rate of injuries it causes vs the rate of injuries it prevents.

wow .. lol that seems like it would lead to collisions.. And why did we take collisions out of baseball anyways?? 1B is only base a fielder shouldnt be allowed to block, if brave enough.

I agree with OP that it seems like it would be more useful in Softball rather than Baseball because of the number of bunts, swinging bunts and infield slaps, causing lots of close plays on throws to first.
