It was more than 10. Let us just say that one team got to play a physical game and the better team didn't.
I agree, but I'm glad they don't ask those difficult questions so as to not take the player out of the moment... Those types of questions should be asked in the post-game presser, imho
I see you point and I’ll agree. I was just saying in general. They asked him the questions and I gave the same answers on the couch before he did. A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. So ask the difficult questions and make these kids think differently than JUST praising them. Don’t get me wrong, praise them but don’t let them think they are all world, make them think about what they need to improve. I just hate softball questions
We should have Denzel, Urban, and Isaiah back. That's a good group to start with. I'm guessing Kublickas will leave. Add in top-50 Alex Lloyd, and we'll have 4 that can contribute. I'd like to bring in at least one top-tier transfer with experience, preferably two.
im curious if we’ll go with a lineup of Urban, Denzel, and Haugh at the SF. I still see Denzel as more of a SG, but they can both bring the ball up.
Thanks again to @ThePlayer for posting our time and score updates for those who can't watch live. It adds a lot to the OGTs!
We have the most physical team the Gators have had in a long time. Chinyelu is an athletic freak, he seemed to get every rebound down low among seven or eight players in a scrum. He boxes out goes up, mind you people hanging, bumpiming, holding him, secures the rebound, comes down back to earth, calmly throws the ball to another Gator, then smiles like a little kid that it was easy. His wide muscular body with long arms makes it almost impossible to get inside to score or rebound. This makes me think of your statement, drift away in my mind thinking, Chinyelu, Condo, Big Sam, Handles, Haugh with Martin getting five to seven rebounds also. They get us so many second chance rebounds, that if we turn up the focus, teams have a hard time keeping up. Right now we are the mash unit. Hopefully by tournament time, everyone is ready to make a deep run.
He reminds me of Will Richards. Good hands, rebounds, drives the basket easily and can shoot. Next year if he can get more consistent on his three point shot and defense, we won’t skip a beat. I agree with you!
Rueben is so strong and aggressive, I feel the refs call fouls on him when opposing teams can’t score inside, whether or not he fouled them.
Very interested to see what approach he takes. If there is one thing February has proven, it's that Aberdeen can handle a starting role and Klavzar can be a contributor at the next level. Those two also complement each other really well, in that both can handle the ball and initiate the offense, but both can also play off the ball, while Aberdeen's defense can cover Klavzar's struggles there a bit. Not sure either is ready to be a lead guard for this team the way Pullin and Clayton have been the last two seasons. I think it is easy to overlook how Aberdeen's uptick correlates pretty closely with Clayton's efficiency (23 assists against 6 turnovers the last 3 games). We will definitely need to get a reinforcement or two so we don't force Ingram or Lloyd into the rotation until they are ready, but we have a pretty good track record of smart portal takes. If you were to put a Pullin or 2023-24 Clayton, or a Martin from this year alongside those returning guards next year, we would be pretty darn good again. I also think if this 5-to-play-5 goes through, there will be a ton of quality veteran guards who have seen the success of guards under Golden and will want to play here, and can hopefully keep us going until Ingram and (a young for his grade) Lloyd are ready.
More consistent? He has the highest 3-point percentage on our team at 42.9%. If he can keep that up with a normal sample size, he'll be a great replacement for Will Richards, especially by the end of next year as he gets more experience.
