(SB) Ongoing UF Softball Commentary

I'll never complain about Beth Mowins again. At least she talks about softball. The two radio commentators last night spent at least half the time talking about things not related to softball. Don't tell me how long your drive is to the game. Tell me if the damn pitch was a ball or a strike.

 

Talked about fruit for a LONG time. And what psycho thinks honeydew is the best fruit

 

I look for Liv to start against Providence. They are 0-4 and lost a five inning game to South Carolina 8-0. It would be a good game to see what she has. In the long run, we do needher arm. So I hope Stephanie ispreparing her for the remainder of theseason. We need both her and Red(Katelynn) to do well to take the pressure off of Keagan.

 

Excluding Jocey, infield defense is probably weakest in CTW’s tenure. Look for more errors and missed opportunities that don’t show up in the stats like the grounders you mentioned getting through the infield, missed double plays. Scary?

 

Well that makes sense - and makes me feel better. The umpire's zone does make a big difference in the nature of the game. That's a big part of what the listener misses with a radio game as opposed to a TV game - as well as some action plays that a bad radio announcer fails to clearly describe. I hope Ava and Kara are better than what transpired last night.

 

I nominate Taylor Shumaker to play SS and 3B. At the same time. (While also still covering right field.)

Seriously though, these guys are the backups to UF's B-Team. I got used to their banter and ended up not minding it by the end. I'm just glad I could listen

I think Aleshia Ocasio is one of the best in the game: insightful and enthusiastic without being embarrassing.

 

Tell me how long Mowins and Smith talked about pencils one game awhile ago. It went on for two innings. I forgot the mute button that night.

 

Canady is throwing against Texas. 0-0 in the fourth. Through three she has given up one hit, walked one and struck out four.

 

Our game over and just switched to the live feed of the Texas game. Man it is cold in Austin. Looks like it is 30 degrees the way you can see their breath and the crowd looks like it is in Alaska. Looks like it is either raining, snowing or sleeting. Might be fog settling in. Nasty night for softball.

 

Pounding rain in Austin and bitterly cold. Not worth playing in weather like that.

 

Red raspberries...picked fresh off the plant as I did as a kid....sprinkle with sugar and put in the fridge for a little while.

Shumaker pace is just amazing!! Yep, she's on a heater and it's not going to last through a whole year.... Or is it?

The expectant great play of the upper class core is exactly what it's been and will continue to flourish. Kendra has been fantastic!
Jocelyn is just about as good as it gets!
Korbe is the tough as nails, amazing player as expected!
Reagan is that quiet oh crap we got through the lineup and she's hitting 5/6, a opposing coaches comments I overheard.
Callahan is solid and a great 6 hitter!

Keagan is one of the best in the Nation! I'd choose her in a one game playoff against anyone, over every other pitcher in College Softball!

We're deep, athletic, and well coached.... The 24 recruiting class is going to have us winning for a long time inmo!

Tech is up 1-0 over Texas but the Texas sophomore pitcher, Teagan Kavan, is a match for Canady. She is very tough.

 

Not a blueberry fan but I might have messed up not putting blackberries off the bush up there

 

Since Texas thinks they are the best thing to hit the world since sliced bread, they have a really crappy softball stadium. You would have thought they would have built a new palace after A&M built their own great facility.
