With all due respect, the “internal turmoil inside Russia” ship as been sunk and its fragments can be found shattered, laying on the seabed of the Sea of Azov. Picture yourself as an every day, rank and file Russian walking to the supermarket in Moscow today. Everyone’s talking about the news. “Now, even the administration in Washington says Ukraine should never have tried to join NATO and Crimea is ours.”

You are now speaking of an impossible task of convincing ordinary Russians that Putin is in the wrong, when even their biggest rival is telling the world his concerns are perfectly valid and justified.

I’ve been saying this since I first heard Hegseth’s ill-conceived remarks. As much respect as I have for our two experienced military members in this thread, no intelligent experienced negotiator would have done what Hegseth did. It was naive at best.

Got to the 44:00 of this video from The Duran to see how obvious it was at the 2022 Munich Security Conference that Kamala Harris and Euro leaders were "drunk with power" and wanted a war in Ukraine. Listen for 2 minutes:

You expect better like bending the knee to a country that can’t even invade a very vulnerable neighbor and get a surrender. So we have to bail out the Kremlin. I’m sure Reagan would have loved that idea.

You’re a walking “LOL, Russia bogged down in Ukraine but if it’s not stopped we’ll all be speaking Russian tomorrow!” trope.

I suspect Trump holds a dim view of atrocities committed by the U.S., onto Ukraine, by dint of fashioning Ukraine as a proxy to be destroyed by Russia. In fact, he’s pretty much said as much.

The video of Trump shaking Putin's hand reminds me of this photo of the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain shaking Hitler's hand in 1938 when Chamberlain claimed that the Munich agreement that he and Hitler signed would bring "peace in our time".

Someone got played and it wasn't the UK or the EU but rather the president with the penchant for orange makeup who got played by the far more skilled former KGB colonel.

Maybe because it's on point. I guess there is a difference though. Chamberlain genuinely thought that Hitler might be willing to stop with the Sudetenland. Putin on the other hand has made it perfectly clear that his goal is to reconstitute the Soviet/Russian empire and under both the Soviets and Czars Ukraine was completely incorporated into Russia. Trump is most likely aware of Vladimir's ultimate objective and doesn't care. I guess Trump's hope is that Putin waits until the end of the Donald's term to finish the job.

It’s not the appeasement part of Neville that was odious, but rather the foolish part, emboldening Poland to refuse any detente with Germany.

And what is Putin’s ultimate objection ? Wait, it’s “Bwa-ha-ha! I’m going to conquer the world!”, right ?

They both have imperial ambitions ( Canada, Greenland, Panama Canal, Gaza).

The difference between the two is that one is virtually certain to use military force to fulfill his imperial ambitions while (fortunately) the other is extremely unlikely to do so.

Trump didn't start the war in Ukraine.
Putin didn't start the war in Ukraine.

The people YOU voted for started the war. Along with the entrenched neocons in the State Dept, the CIA, the Pentagon and USAID.

As for Hitler, he took back a very small part of Poland that was 90% German-speakers. They wanted to be part of Germany. Hitler didn't want war with the rest of Europe, he wanted Euro countries to unite to fight the Russian communist takeover of Eastern Europe. Churchill and Roosevelt should have negotiated for peace which is what Hitler wanted. So we got a war that killed 50-80 million (depending on how you look at it).

If Trump had been president instead of FDR I think war could have been averted. What is it with you Democrats? Fail after foreign policy fail starting with WW1. And of course we had George W. who was controlled by the neocons (who hate MAGA).

MAGA wants Peace Abroad, Prosperity at Home. It will take a long time to fix this economy though.

Nice job by your team in Ukraine btw.

No one should worry about Russia. They can’t even take over an extremely weak neighbor. Pathetic showing. If you were truly “America first” you would realize this is the time to put them in their place and clown on a historical enemy of the US with literally the smallest investments we have ever had to make. Instead for some reason we are trying to bail them out? Yes very “America first”

Are you a Russian bot? I mean this is just embarrassing. So the Kremlin didn’t install Yanukovych and attempt to make the country a vassal state? Go read a couple news articles from sources that aren’t breitbart or Russia today this weekend in between your Rogan episodes.

Their extremely weak neighbor was already the largest army in Europe, with over a million troops at the outset, conducting ten conscripts since and receiving nearly $200 billion in weapons and aid from 40+ countries. It is another trope that Russia went to war with a hapless neighbor. The U.S. would have gotten its ass handed to it in a similar scenario.
