Well this ought to be an interesting discussion. Conservative Nancy Mace used the free speech protection of the House floor to accuse her former fiancé and 3 others of rape, sexual abuse, and sexual predation. Geez. Interested in conservatives thoughts here. Is she lying like so many liberal women have been accused of doing? Let’s face it, she used the only place she can’t be held libel if she is lying to launch these charges the prosecutors chose not to pursue. Or, is she a victim seeking a safe space to make her accusations in a world where women aren’t always believed? Tough one for you guys. Mace Takes to House Floor With Charges of Rape and Sexual Predation Representative Nancy Mace, the South Carolina Republican who in recent weeks has floated a run for governor, on Monday night accused her former fiancé and three other men of having drugged and raped her and other women, and of filming and taking lewd photographs of women and underage girls without their consent. In a stunningly graphic speech on the House floor that had little precedent, Ms. Mace said the men, whom she named and displayed photographs of on a placard where lawmakers more typically display charts and graphs on policy issues, were involved in the “premeditated, calculated exploitation of innocent women and girls in my district.” “You’ve booked yourself a one-way ticket to hell,” she said, referring to the men directly at one point in a speech that lasted close to an hour. “It is nonstop. There are no connections. So I and all of your victims can watch you rot into eternity.” On the floor of the House, Ms. Mace was protected by the speech and debate clause, even as she accused the men of repeatedly assaulting incapacitated women and filming it. The clause provides lawmakers immunity from criminal prosecutions or civil suits, such as for slander, when they are acting “within the legislative sphere.” Ms. Mace offered no evidence to support the accusations, although she said she had plenty of such material.
Mace said the lead prosecutor in South Carolina, who she would likely run against in the primary for Governor refused to take on the case.
This woman at this point is obviously batshit crazy, so it’s hard to believe her. Not even sure it makes sense. She claims her ex fiancé raped her. Ok. Possible. How does she know of these other men? Or these other victims??? Who are they and what is the connection? Is she exposing a Republican underground rape club? Like… the exact thing these freaks made up about democrats?
Maybe Madison Cawthorn was right about GOP parties. Congressman Madison Cawthorn under fire over claims of DC drugs and orgies
Something tells me she is either crazy, or took part and is under investigation. Would like to believe her otherwise, but she doesn't seem a stable personality and if the prosecutor in South Carolina won't touch it, something is off. Doesn't pass the smell test.
interesting comments by our fellow posters- you readily believe the Trump accuser but attack a conservative female- pretty sexist- I will give her the benefit of the doubt but want to see the proof as soon as possible
She isn’t some “random accuser”, she is a politician with a history of deranged lies. That is not sexist, it’s a fact. Has nothing to do with her party either. She is a Republican, most likely the people she is leveling this accusation against are also Republicans. I’m skeptical right off the bat not because of her party or her sex, but because of her history as a clownish liar.
As @OklahomaGator stated, it is a matter of whether or not she has evidence, not whether or not we "believe" her.
Ultimately that is always the case, also if these other victims exist or not. If some other women come forward then it can be taken seriously at least.
That's what I'm thinking. The prosecutor opened the case against her ex boyfriend two years ago and she's just now speaking out as if she is breaking the story and coming forward. Could just be for attention, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to come out that she knew what was going on and helped/joined in/covered up/didn't report it, or something else that's going to very bad for her.
This would be the second time in her life that she has been sexually assaulted if true. That would be both horrific and tragic. The problem most people have is, she is simply a whack-job. She was the leader of the "bathroom campaign" in congress, despite the fact that there has never been an issue there. She is also someone who is outspoken on behalf of women who were sexually assaulted, yet 100% supports and lionizes a man who was found liable of sexual assault and then defaming his victim. If nothing else, she seems to be a horrifically be judgement of character when it comes to the men she associates with.
It should always be taken "seriously." If some dirt bags did her wrong then throw the book at them. If she's lying then either throw the book at her for filing a false report or get her professional help. But, either way, it's serious.
Can't, congress people have total immunity for anything they say on the house floor, which makes you wonder why she brought it there. Doesn't exactly add credibility.
Count me as supporting her. I don’t believe she, or the additional women she mentioned, made it all up. It’s supposedly hell to be that forthcoming seeking justice. She was detailed and specific, and there’s no telling what she’s been through. Maybe a MAGA sexual assault victim will gain more empathy for SA victims. And I anticipate other victims will feel a kinship with her and what she did.
if she saw graphic images and videos on her fiancés cell phone...that's a real possibility...maybe she isn't crazy after all
