Doesn't change anything I've said. Elon Musk is cutting other "wasteful" govt contracts while his company is receiving govt contracts. And he's the one deciding what is wasteful. In no world does this jive. I don't care what the contract is for or who bid on it.
There's plenty of other options for people to lead DOGE, and I'm sure a few of them wouldn't take such glee in destroying people's livelihoods. Musk truly enjoys it. And he's got all sorts of other businesses besides SpaceX that receive money from the government. He has no business leading DOGE. Surely you understand that.
Yes, wholesale destruction of our country for Vladimir Putin and our oligarchs. You elected a Russian mole, AGAIN.
tesla ceo elon musk: Elon Musk doesn't know what is going on between his rocket company SpaceX and the U.S government; here's the reason - The Economic Times
Should I start a new thread for the govts plan to buy 400million in armored piece of shit Cybertrucks or just put it in this thread? State Department to buy $400m ‘armored’ Teslas from Elon Musk
I would add that $38 million is so insignificant compared to the money our government has given to Elon over the years. You liberals loved the government propping up Tesla with the very profitable climate credits. The left continues to whine that Musk is cutting federal programs. He and his team are merely auditors who report waste, abuse, fraud, and irrelevance. They report to the President and the President will ask Congress to take action. I don't understand why the left is so angry about auditing the government. Even the most anti-Trump Obama Bro's appreciate the swift action of this administration.
He is not and nobody on his team is actually an auditor. If they are going to pretend to have a job, how about claiming that they are professional football players or something?
Man, who do you think you're telling these falsehoods to? You think people aren't all here watching? You think we didn't see Elon Musk publicly lie and call USAID a "criminal organization?" That liar "reported to the President" and then "Congress took action" .......... and that's why USAID was folded into the State Dept, thousands of people were furloughed, billions of dollars of aid is literally sitting undelivered, and now many thousands of people are guaranteed to die? Absurd. None of that happened in any semblance of a logical or lawful process. You should make sure you've got a 100% MAGA audience when you want to say things that are obviously not true.
Exactly!!! Elon has killed it with the car credits. But here we are whining about $38 million that might actually be a worthwhile expenditure. I don't know. And I don't care to research it. But as I said. If it is waste...then it should not happen and be called out. This is just whining from the left on too hot based on the current situation of how things are happening if you ask me.
The amount of profit from the 38M that makes its way to Elon's bank account is roughly equivalent to how much money Elon will eventually save taxpayers every minute of every day going forward.
We can certainly argue whether going to the moon is worthwhile. With that said…your only argument is we need to cut the space program. I would argue handing people $7500 to buy an electric car is far more wasteful and accounts for far more dollars.
I said this in the other Musk thread but all contracts with Musk's companies should receive extra scrutiny to be sure they protect the US interests.
The problem here is a central problem underlying most issues with Trump: Who could be responsible for scrutinizing actions to make sure they protect US interests? Trump seems bent on replacing everyone that doesn’t fully agree with him, so no matter what institution you enlist to oversee the actions of a Trump disciple, it’s virtually certain to be run by a different Trump disciple. There doesn’t appear to be a mechanism for true outside oversight.
My argument isn't that we need to cut the space program. I'm one of the last people who would say that. Im a huge space nerd, had my telescope out probably 3 times already this month. My point is if Musk is in charge of cutting waste, and he's busy cutting social safety nets, DEI and the like, then him getting a contract to fly the first woman and person of color to the moon is a crazy conflict of interest. And on the priority of govt spending, indeed flying people to the moon is much lower than most other things
