It would be "two for the price of one" if Theis gets the job. The more I think about it, the more logical it seems to hire him.

Did Boos replace Theis at UF? That would be an interesting dynamic

I don't know if any external hire really makes more sense than hiring Boos. I will support whoever ends up coaching this team...but Collier is the total package, IMHO.

Choices are Dave Boos, Michelle Collier, and Ryan Theis.
Who do you want and why?

Associate Head Coach should stand for something with Florida, favors Boos.

Both Collier and Theis are proven head coaches, but neither come close to matching Mary Wise. I like that Theis had his hand in 3 highly ranked recruiting classes when with Florida as an assistant.

If it is true the players want Boos, I have to lean to continuity. Instead of CMW delivering national championships with this championship caliber team, Boos is capable of doing that. All I'd ask in return is that Boos sign his name on the contract in blood with the statement that he will value getting serves in play rather than blowing off points with poor serves. It seems to me that is the approach the best teams take. You can't win a point by giving the point away.

With the above stated, I don't have a clue how Boos is with recruiting. Recruiting is a huge concern, but I don't know how the 3 finalists would rank compared to each other.

It might be helpful for someone to give the inside information on the 3 as casual fans like me cannot gleam enough information to decide based on the coach's bios. It would be nice to know how the 3 compare to each other offensively and defensively. How is this for a dodge? :)

Are these 3 names actually the entire pool of candidates or is this all conjecture? Where are these names coming from and how accurate is this reporting? As for Boos, I'm not sure continuity is as important as philosophy. I will say though, unless you are privy to the most discreet inner workings of team meetings and practices, not many would know his philosophies as his job was to carry out Mary's plan. I really have no clue what portion of our system and tendencies are of his input and what he needs to reinforce based on his marching orders. Lots of programs have had quality coaches retire and leave a program in good position yet that program doesn't always promote the assistant. I just hope the pool is larger than 3.

After watching Alex Condon go down at Mississippi State thankfully with a low ankle sprain, it was easy to dance around without giving a definitive answer.

I'm like the others here in just wanting the best coach available for UF's long-term future. I enjoy watching volleyball, but this decision is beyond my knowledge and pay grade.

No offense to the three but I’m underwhelmed if that’s the final threesome. Jmo

If these are truly the final three, then I think Theis is the clear choice. I think Boos is better in an assistant coach's role. Fourteen years and never took a HC job-you know there had to be a ton of offers. Has he not aspired to or the motivation to be a HC? When an assistant coach has been an assistant coach for so long, that's a bit uninspiring. Georgia Tech is a top academic institution, and the ACC is a top volleyball conference, so recruiting top players shouldn't be too difficult IMHO. Collier's been the HC at Georgia Tech since 2012, and her best showings are three regional finals-a little underwhelming. Theis has the highest winning percentage among all head coaches in Marquette history, led the Golden Eagles’ to their only two Sweet 16 appearances in program history, and NCAA and tournament births in all of his full seasons at Marquette. And then there's the Florida Gators connection. The choice is pretty clear to me.

Agree with your assessment. Ryan Theis checks all the box’s.

robboy1, gatornharlem, ETGator1, apkgator and huunterhound it's obvious that none of y'all have read Boos' Bio on the Coaches page, so I doubt if any of y'all have read the other coaches Bios either. I don't have enough knowledge to even make comments on this board as to who is a possible replacement for CMW but I can at least do research and read up on the coaches who are possibilities. Therefore as for me, I will consider any opinions y'all have about the possibilities of a replacement HC with a grain of Florida sand.

I did read Boos's bio page. I also read the other two's bios. I also went on different College Volleyball forums to read what others are saying. I really like SMU's coach. she's young and has turned around SMU's program. They beat Nebraska 3-0 this year, and were competitive in the ACC. But she is not in the final three. My issues with Boos: I think SS would've already hired him if Wise had come out and said that Boos was unquestionably the best choice to replace her. I couldn't imagine SS not hiring him if Wise said this. If Mary had won a natty, then I'd be 100% in for hiring him. But Boos and Wise together were never able to get over the hump. Besides being NCAA runner-up in 2017, in the last 10 years, the Gators have been surpassed by Kentucky, who also won a NCAA title. I think the best option would be to keep him on as assistant coach. Theis has maxed out Marquette's potential-they will never win a natty. He was an assistant under Mary, and jumped at the chance to be a HC. He's very motivated and hungry. And I believe this is his dream job-to be Florida's HC. Having a Gator great as his wife is also a big plus.
