Pastor tells church 'sometimes violence is necessary,' appears to link Elon Musk's DOGE to 'the devil'

Dr. Steve Caudle, senior reverend at Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church (GSMBC) in Chattanooga, delivered a sermon on Sunday in which he appeared to threaten the "possibility of violence" over the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and its ongoing investigations into misappropriation of taxpayer funding.

"I pray that the peace of God will win out and overcome the madness that is attempting to take over this nation. And I'll say to you, beloved, no one likes violence, but sometimes violence is necessary," said Caudle. "When Elon Musk forces his way into the United States Treasury and threatens to steal your personal information and your Social Security check, there is the possibility of violence.

"Sometimes the devil will act so ugly that you have no other choice but to get violent and fight," he added.

What a horrible thing this leftist pastor did, could you imagine a pastor leaning right said this

I like that promoting violence against authoritarianism is now considered left leaning. Enjoy your oligarchy though.

Is this where you tell us how much you hate political violence against the government, and we try to read it with a straight face?

So strange how there's this expectation to believe the flagrant dishonesty from the un-American MAGA cult.....

Who are you kidding? The only concerns from the right over criminal behavior are whether it benefits them, whether it enriches Trump and Musk, and the skin color of the alleged perpetrators.

If this were someone from the right, he'd get a pardon, podcast, cabinet position, or run for US Rep. He'd probably be publicly called a "very fine person."

The Pastor's assertion is a provable distortion of the truth- still am trying hard to understand why the left is so upset about the exposure of fraud and waste in our guvment

Because we live in a society where anything done by the other side is evil and needs to be screamed about. The right does its equal share of it.

But we should all support the snuffing out of waste and corruption. Just not sure Trump is the person to trust with it.

    Time will tell.

Disclaimer: I know a certain one trick poster will white knuckle the desire to twist my words about supporting the snuffing out of corruption and waste as some way to post about Trump being a rapist and how me voting for a conservative to be In my county commission is akin to treason.

So before you even try and misrepresent. I know. I get it.

Right, because we never used violence to win our freedom and liberty from England, so it must be an impossibility it could happen again.

The 1% may FAFO. Once the masses see that they are not protected by the law they wont respect it and they have the numbers. I doubt it will come to that because the republican house is already backing away from that budget bill. They suspect it will be their last session ever if they pass it.

Threatening violence against govt? Sounds like a typical MAGA conservative preacher the last 10 years.

    What is false?

Musk has obtained your personal data and social security information through govt systems, and that was done in an extralegal way. The pastor is just stating the obvious as to what happens when shit potentially hits the fan. He also doesn’t mention being against finding fraud, that is the “distortion of truth” added by the right wing article!

Now the pastor’s response to the backlash is nonsense. He tried to claim he was referring to “spiritual warfare” rather than real world violence, which is exactly the same backtracking you see hate filled right wing preachers typically do… and it’s transparent bullshit every time they do same as this guy. Clearly he should resign.

So for clarity you're just confirming what I said? Suckling at the teat of authoritarianism is now a right wing ideology?

Good to know that when Jefferson said the tree of liberty had to be watered with the blood of tyrants he was promoting the tenets of leftism. Gonna start making TJ shirts wearing the Che Guevara beret.

Hold on - YOU are complaining about a "distortion of the truth" ? :)

Have you gone back and retracted or apologized for your thread based on the OUTRIGHT FALSEHOOD that FEMA paid $60 mill for luxury hotels for immigrants?

Just my opinion here, but someone really shouldn't post outright falsehoods, and then pretend to care about the truth. (Your opinion may vary. You may have a more MAGA-y view on things.)

Because we have a Constitution (for now) and everything being done so far flies in the face of it.

It is deeply disappointing that the alleged "conservative party" cannot understand that, though I expect nothing less from a cult of sheep that worships a sexist, lying, grifting pig felon as an idle and his neo-Nazi saluting side kick.

Luckily, we have history books from pre-2024 that show us exactly how this story unfolds and how this path ends. Though it take years or decades, the sane will prevail.

Agree, it is horrible. And just like Trump encouraged Jan 6th, it won’t be that pastor that suffers, but his followers. and yes, pastors “leaning right” have encouraged violence for trump.

There were also maga politicians who encouraged violence and trump himself promoted a truth to his millions of followers about another civil war.

right-wing Pastor Greg Locke told his Tennessee congregation "you ain't seen an insurrection yet," evoking the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021…. You God-hating communists, you'll find out what an insurrection is because we ain't playing your garbage. ….And the Bible says they will take it by force."

Pro-Trump Pastor Says 'You Ain't Seen' Insurrection Yet Ahead of D.C. Visit

“Pro-Trump Pastor Mark Burns cited the Bible to suggest that violence is needed to take power as he preached in front of a crowd attending a ReAwaken America event this week.”

The pastor then suggested violence as he noted that the "Bible says the violent take it... and we take it by force," in reference to Matthew 11:12, which reads, "And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force."

Pro-Trump pastor cites Bible to suggest violence needed to take power

“Nearly one-third of white evangelicals, regardless of party affiliation, expressed support for political violence — easily the highest among all Americans. Among Americans with a favorable view of Trump, 41% of people are open to violence from “true American patriots.”

Trump's Christian base has shifted in a violent direction since Jan. 6, new poll shows

read only access? Based on “musk said so”? Confirmed by who? Trump is firing anyone who checks/oversees. And is this an effective safeguard, with him and his IT team- with access to the systems?
