The board is huge this early so I'm pairing it down a bit and will just cover a couple of positions at this time. QB: Will Griffin seems 100% Gator so I doubt the staff is pursuing other HS QB's very hard. I would think we will continue to see a pattern of a HS guy and an experienced portal signed. LB: UF sits in a good spot with two of the higher ranked backers at this point. Being so early, anything can change but I would put Malik Morris and Izayia Williams at the top of the list. Morris is from Lakeland and Williams from Leesburg. Morris profile 6'1 225 composite #15 LB in the country. Throws the discus and shot for his track team. Finished 3rd in Discus class 3 as a sophomore. Main competition is UGA, FSU,UM and UK. Factors favoring UF are location and depth chart at LB. UF list 6 linebackers on the depth chart. Williams profile 6"1 205 composite #7 LB. Competes in long jump and high jump for his HS. Williams visited UF on Jan 13th weekend. Main competition is Bama and Auburn and FSU where he was committed until November. Factors favoring UF are location and again the depth chart at UF. DB Ayden Pouncey, Winter Park Fl. Yes, he is the brother to Ethan and Jordan who played at UF. Composite # 11 safety at 6'2 and a slim 160 pounds. I'm told he is the best of the 3. Ayden visited UF for Junior day and although UF has the Pouncey connection I would not consider UF a slam dunk but I do think they will be in the mix. EDIT: with the db coach change, Pouncey is supposedly a Miami lean. Kaiden Hall 6'3 190 4* safety from Milton. Hall visited UF in early February. Hall spent most of his time with Harris and Sunseri but also spent time with RB coach Jaluke and RB Ja'Kobi Jackson. UF's main competition is Bama, Clemson and fsu. Hall plans on taking four visits and wishes to make a decision prior to his senior year. UF has a good shot here IMO. One of the tight ends Florida is keeping a close eye on in the 2026 class is IMG Academy product Kekua Aumua, who recently visited UF on January 18th. Aumua is 6'5 240 3* who should rise in the rankings. He is considered an every down TE who can block and catch. I will ad more names as I can. Recruiting is more fluid than ever and names will be added and some will drop off. Candy
As for Pouncey, how about hiring Jordan Pouncey as a special teams analyst. It will help UF because he was good and may help with recruiting.
2024 roster shows 20 DBs(a bit heavy) 9 TEs(2 spots), 18 WRs(3 spots). I do realize some are carried for practice but 6 LBs seems light. 23 OL listed on our 2024 roster. That's interesting.
Our 24 roster had 8 scholarship LB plus walkons (Robinson, Spurlock, Moten, Chiles, Graham, Howard, Wingo, James) , there were 17 scholarship OL, 6 scholarship TE (but 2 were Zipp and G Hill who really weren't options) Not sure why you included walkons to skew the other positions then lowballed the LB number
I listed roster numbers. What did I "lowball"? I do realize some are carried for practice but 6 LBs seems light. Referring to 6 said to be scholarship now and carried for practice meant all positions listed.
Again....you have to be counting walkons at other positions for your numbers, but not doing so at LB. That equates to lowballing the position to fit a narrative.
Candy was lowballing? "Factors favoring UF are location and depth chart at LB. UF list 6 linebackers on the depth chart." I did not specifically list 2024 LB numbers from the roster. The 2024 roster included 11 LBs. Per Candy, we have 6 now. So what narrative am I peddling? "I do realize some are carried for practice but 6 LBs seems light."
For the third time....you listed other positions that clearly included walkons to boost those numbers but only listed the 6 scholarship LB for spring. That isn't an equivalent comparison. Not sure why this is so hard
Not been a Griffin fan from the beginning, watch a soph QB from Port Charlotte hs outplay him by a large margin him during last season(s) hs playoffs,,,which only served to concrete my sentiments
