https://apnews.com/article/house-re...ump-tax-cuts-ff2bddf31f4e7cb0928139072392a091 providing for up to $4.5 trillion in tax cuts and a $4 trillion increase in the debt limit so that the U.S. can continue financing its bills. The budget plan also directs a variety of House committees to cut spending by at least $1.5 trillion while stating that the goal is to reduce spending by $2 trillion over 10 years. -- ok so that math doesn't math to me, but whatever. The Energy and Commerce Committee, which handles health care spending, is asked to cut $880 billion over the decade, while the Education and Workforce committee is asked to reduce spending by $330 billion. The Agriculture committee is asked to save $230 billion, while the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is asked to find at least $10 billion in cuts through 2034. Even as some programs would be cut, money would be shifted to other Trump priorities, including a $100 billion boost in defense spending over the next decade through the Armed Services Committee and an additional $90 billion for the Homeland Security Department, which is carrying out Trump’s massive immigration deportation. -- so let me get this straight - increased spending on defense and security, and massive decreases in spending on energy, education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure....hmmmmmm Also still a fight to be had between congress and senate: As House Republicans press ahead, Senate Republicans are pursuing a narrower effort focused on boosting border security and defense spending. Republicans have been debating since last year whether to enact the bulk of Trump’s agenda in one or two pieces of legislation. The Senate is moving on a two-bill track, while the House is moving on a one-bill track. It’s unclear which side will win out in the end. --honestly it doesn't matter who is president when it comes to republicans. Their policies are largely the same when it comes to spending.
lol. It cuts Medicaid and SNAP and provides tax cuts for the wealthy. Largest shift of wealth from poverty support to wealthy peoples vacations in history. This should be fun to watch. The House has a 3 person majority. That’s not a lot of people that need to care about the poor. “The House Budget Committee released its own plan on Wednesday that would add more than $3 trillion to the deficit over a decade while cutting $1.5 trillion in federal spending, much of it from health care and food programs for the poor. It also calls for $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, and for raising the debt ceiling, the statutory cap on what the nation can borrow to finance its debt, by $4 trillion.”
Not shocking, they will eliminate/reduce money for education, financial services, Agriculture and Energy & Commerce. Will set ~$4.5T into "Ways and Means", ie Tax Cuts for the wealthy and corporations. "Conservative" is a total and complete joke - just as those who claim that absurd title.
As others have said. The goal is to create a budget crisis so broad the only SS and Medicare cuts can save it. In other news, had lunch with an evil Black money guy. He said his new thing was mobile medical treatments in rural areas. Lots of study into what equipment and level of training for the staff results in the highest payouts. Private equity to the rescue I just shook my head. He goes, hey, don’t judge, I just got a bigger boat. Want to go fishing. with a heavy heart, I said, hell yes!
I am not even upset that they are looking to cut some of the social programs. Those have all done nothing but expanded endlessly over the past 10-12 years. Intelligent cut backs are not such a terrible thing. However, the wealthy tax cut thing is just unforgivable at this point.
Why bother with a budget when you can just let a billionaire turn off the money for whatever he wants?
MAGA morons strike again. All of the tax cuts going to the wealthy, just like last time. Maybe you all can work for Elon for free to figure out where you can cut waste so he can give it to himself!
Endlessly expanded social programs? What country are you talking about, surely not this one lol. Most of the big social spending we've done since the late 2000s was temporary in nature, because of the financial crisis and COVID. None of those things were permanent. The ACA at least put in bunch of taxes to pay for it. They went through a lot of trouble for the GBO score. Because deficits only matter to Democrats.
Not sure they can pass a bill with debt ceiling raises. There are about 30 members who have never voted to raise the debt ceiling on the right in their lives. This bill is designed to fail as they need all of them to overcome the democrats “no”.
So MAGA wants to cut aid to the poor and their families for food and medicine, while giving tax breaks to the wealthy. And maga can’t claim a balanced budget because to finance those tax cuts, they’ll borrow money and pass the debt to our children and their children.
It’s funny to me all the complaining about debt the last 4 years, and how bad the economy has been when this admin is about to blow up both lol.
When Biden when it's in office we heard about the national debt and how we're never going to pay it back and how bad government spending is. For the next 4 years I expect there to be crickets when it comes to talking about curbing the deficit and the national debt because they are getting their tax cuts
I don't get it. Musk claimed he could cut 2 trillion per year. Now here's a House budget proposal that only cuts 1.5 trillion over 10 years. Where's the other 1.85 trillion in cuts per year?
