My family fought communism. Democrats got along well with the USSR and licked Breshnev's boots. Now that Russia is no longer communist you hate Russians.

The USSR dissolved in 1991. Sadly people like you favored policies that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in Ukraine while handing Russia trillions of dollars of natural resources. The Too Hot libs aren't very good at foreign policy.

LOL! Sure they did Rando McGando.

And your connection to UF again. . . .

Oh, and let's be honest. The USSR was just a dictatorship wrapped up in the veneer of "worker's rights" seeing as how workers had less rights there than anywhere outside of N. Korea. So, in that respect, your team hasn't changed since "your team" was the Mongol's bitch terrorizing all the other Kievan principalities.

    This sounds promising .....

Trump speaks with Putin, says talks to end Ukraine war will begin "immediately" - CBS News

Washington — President Trump said Wednesday that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and directed members of his national security team to "immediately" begin negotiations aimed at ending Russia's war with Ukraine.

The call between Mr. Trump and Putin is the first known conversation between the two since the president returned to the White House for a second term. It comes a day after Russia released Pennsylvania schoolteacher Marc Fogel, who was serving a 14-year sentence and was designated as wrongfully detained late last year.

"I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia," the president wrote on Truth Social. "We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, Energy, Artificial Intelligence, the power of the Dollar, and various other subjects."

Mr. Trump said he and Putin talked about the "great benefit that we will someday have in working together" and agreed on the need to end Russia's war with Ukraine. In addition to the pledge to begin discussions on the war in Ukraine, the president and his Russian counterpart said they would visit "each other's nation."

I think this has more to do with disapproval for Democrats than approval of Trump.

Maybe it’s just me, but so far I’ve liked Trump v1 better. The most significant difference between now and then as far as approval rating goes is that people just don’t buy the fear-mongering BS anymore.

If we were smart we would make a trade deal with Ukraine and circumvent the European Union so we have some skin in protecting our soon-to-be new source of rare Earth minerals, and use that trade deal to further bolster our importance to Ukraine (keeping Russia at bay without making Ukraine NATO protected) and add the eastern European nations to that trade deal. Those nations also happen to have very few newly imported middle eastern immigrants.

The need for the USA to trade directly with these nations in Eastern Europe is the solution that we are not pursuing... why?

We can break the European trade Union's grip on Eastern Europe without demanding that they take in middle easterners in return, like the EU/Brussels are forcing upon them.

We need to save countries that are friendly to the U.S. like Ukraine and Hungry among others in the region, and making the southern trade hub in Ukraine makes the most sense. We should also consider opening up one on the North-Eastern Europe too.

The Euros have screwed us for far too long with their incessant tariffs, we owe them NOTHING, and we need to take what we can from them in return for their bad behavior. We already have NATO, so why not put that force to good use by protecting OUR DIRECT TRADE IN Eastern Europe?

Although Soviet economic system has been replaced with a form of crony capitalism, Russia is just as expansionist as the former Soviet Union. The country is run by a former KGB agent who has referred to the collapse of the Soviet Union as a great geopolitical tragedy. Putin has made no attempt to hide his desire to restore Russia to what it was under the Soviet Union or the Russian empire of the Czars.
Putin’s plan for a new Russian Empire includes both Ukraine and Belarus
Putin’s history lecture reveals his dreams of a new Russian Empire

Restoration of empire is the endgame for Russia’s Vladimir Putin

You have no idea what you're talking about. Putin came into power in 2000 and made no attempt to expand Russia until provoked by the West. As many great geopolitical thinkers (including America's greatest Russia expert, Stephen F. Cohen RIP) have noted, Putin's comment about the breakup of the USSR was mistranslated. The tragedy as Putin saw it was when the USSR broke up many ethnic Russians were trapped inside countries outside Russia in places like Ukraine, where they were oppressed.

For many years Putin refused to let Donetsk and Luhansk join the Russian Federation. Putin said they should remain part of Ukraine. The fact that you and your friends can't grasp this speaks to your invincible ignorance. You simply can't be helped until your brains engage with antivirus software.

Putin said in a letter in Dec 2021 what had to be done to avoid war in Ukraine. 2 of his 3 red lines were violated, to wit:
    1. Ukraine attacked Russian-speakers with thousands of artillery shells beginning 8 days before the war broke out.
    2. The day before the war broke out Kamala Harris said Ukraine would join NATO.

So Russia invaded under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the same justification the US used to bomb Belgrade for 78 days.

The US and Ukraine asked for war by attacking Tussian-speakers in the Donnas and stating Ukraine would join NATO.

Let's be adults here and acknowledge that NATO and the US wanted Putin deposed and they wanted Russia to be broken into smaller countries which could be exploited by the West.

    Another win??!

Judge makes shock reversal on Trump 'buyout' offer to federal workers

A federal judge on Wednesday lifted the temporary freeze on President Trump's 'buyout' offer for federal workers as the administration looks to shrink the workforce.

A union which represents hundreds of thousands of federal workers and others sued to stop the deferred buyout offer's February 6 deadline.

But Massachusetts District Judge George O’Toole ruled the unions lack standing to challenge the directive and are not directly impacted by the directive.

O'Toole, a President Clinton appointee, lifted the temporary restraining order on Tuesday.
