Heavener also got it. Freshman pitcher at LSU. She had a six inning perfect game with 13 strike outs on opening day but that was the only game she pitched in the opening series. Red and Heavener locked up in high school games in Florida. I know Heavener won one of them 2-1 but not sure of any others. I'm sure we wanted Heavener. I'm guessing she might have known Red was fully set on UF and no way both were coming to the same place at the same time. Just a guess.
SEC Softball Players of the Week: Feb. 10 - Southeastern Conference Looks like she threw a perfect game with 13Ks, so she is indeed deserving of some recognition. Looks like she will be worth following the next few years. I would say though that as great as Peralta and Parker’s offensive outbursts were this week, Taylor’s was even better measured by OPS. If she weren’t a freshman, I think she would have actually won SEC player of the week honors.
Havener's Pace team beat Red Oxley's Bartow team in the state title game last spring. She's really good.
Good to see Peralta hitting like she did as FR.. but still awful at SS, & the 3 E6s should of eliminated her as PoW.. Tresvik had almost same numbers .588, 3 Hr, 8 RBI, 6/6 SB...and no E 9s.
She also got NFCA player of the week. And same for Softball America (not sure if that has been posted.)
No. 2 Softball Improves To 7-0 With Run-Rule Victory Over Jacksonville - Florida Gators Nice win tonight, 10-1 run ruled win over Jacksonville. Taylor Shumaker leads D1 softball with HRs with her sixth one tonight in the 1st inning. Rylee Holtorf hit her first HR as a Gator and it was her first career grand slam. Kendra scored 2 runs and had 2 line drive hits demonstrating once more she can be more than a slap hitter. Jocey had a double, an rbi and scored two runs. Kara Hammock got the win though she had some control trouble in the 2nd inning, but had 5 Ks facing 15 batters in 3 innings. Ava came for the relieve, had 3 Ks and faced 6 batters in 2 innings. Brooke Barnard got some reps in her first appearance at catcher, catching Ava in the last two innings of the game.
Stetson seems to have a decent team this year. They are 5 & 0, scored 31 runs and have thrown 3 shutouts. We shall see. Go Gators.
I would like to see the Gators play a stronger team to see how they respond. I suspect Keagan will start tonight. However, I would like to see Liv start to see how she does and where she is in her preparation for the season.
Fans who went to Tampa and KSP last night have indicated that Townsend is injured. She was in street clothes. Does anybody have any indication of what might be the case. But of course CTW keeps his cards close to his chest, so we won’t really know what the story is.
That he is an enthusiastic and vocal supporter of his daughter and her team. At times this can result in some barking back and forth with opposing players (e.g., Denver Bryant from South Carolina last year). Not exactly reserved.
She was in uniform last night. She can be seen celebrating both the home runs at the plate. But since she hasn’t made an appearance, I do think she has some nagging injury at the least.
