Let’s put it this way, these people are using Hungary as a model. The United States of America following Hungary’s lead. Putting aside the absurdity of that, take a look at where Hungary ranks in public corruption. The direction it’s moved under Orban. That is your future.

 

Our democracy always prevails, until it doesn't. Once it's gone, it is nearly impossible to bring it back.

As for Trump etc not complying with court orders from rogue judges, why should they? The judiciary doesn't have the right to interfere with Trump carrying out the job he was elected to do. The Democrats seem to think the Treasury Secretary can't audit the Treasury. Trump is the king of the Executive branch

I never once said democracy would fail. I said Trump would try to make it fail and he did. And now he's trying again. You of course remain unconcerned.

I think the attitude of the Trump Administration could best be summed up it what Trump's favorite president, Andrew Jackson said in reference to the Supreme Court decision determining that the forcible relocation of Cherokees from Georgia to Oklahoma was illegal "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it." It's very possible that the Dear Leader and the boys could end up openly defying the courts.

 

I mean - that would be a constitutional crisis. Because the courts can't enforce anything. They can notify the justice department, and Pam Bondi can say - go pound sand. The end. At a certain point, if the executive ignores the courts, the only people that can hold them accountable are in the house and senate, and we all know they won't do jack shit. So yeah - I would not be shocked if the Trump admin tests the water here to see how much they can get away with before they start to get significant enough push back from the legislative branch. Again - my guess is, they will ignore everything, and then when people try to ignore his executive orders in response, because the courts have ruled, he will send the justice department after those people citing his orders like they haven't been blocked. That might not happen right away, but it's shaping up to happen soon if he so chooses.

The question is - does he make the final fateful step to ignore the courts?

 

It's all going that direction. If they ignore the lower courts, as they are currently doing, I don't see why they wouldn't ignore the SC. They'll just say the SC is wrong and do what they want to do. And even if congress impeached and removed him from office, which will never happen with Repubs in control, how would they actually enforce it if Trump refused to go?

 

"Unconcerned" isnt accurate. I'm concerned about Trump. I just dont think he can do what he wants to do.

 

The gop house and senate will never impeach him under any circumstances. Under the scenario you laid out: we have our first emperor.
