Im sure the regulators will help him move this along. I'm sure having access to their tax records doesn't hurt his pricing strategy Elon Musk launches $100 billion hostile takeover of major tech rival Elon Musk is leading a group of investors offering to buy OpenAI for nearly $100 billion. The takeover bid was submitted to OpenAI's board of directors on Monday, Musk's attorney Marc Toberoff told the Wall Street Journal. Open AI is currently a non-profit run by Musk's nemesis Sam Altman.
This all seems very crooked, and not for the most obvious reasons. Like why would you pay that much for an AI business after the value looks to be falling out after other people have done it cheaper? I guess thats how things work when most of your wealth is just fictional and requires you to keep leveraging.
I assume it's nothing more than they turned down his offer so now his feelings are hurt and he's trying to do it the hostile way
Because not everyone believes news out of China. Like most things CCP, there's probably a lot more to the story. Also, who says Musk isn't invested with that too. He's got billions of investments in China and Xi on speed dial.
Ok, so an over leveraged ketamine addicted person who doesn't know shit about AI doesn't believe the news out of China
No, given his close ties with Xi and the CCP, he probably knows it overstated (at the least) and is looking to dominate AI worldwide by playing both sides. Again, call me when he pays a tariff.
I think you are giving him to much credit and also looking through your "everything Chinese is fraudulent" glasses
If OpenAI is worth 100 billion, you really have to think everything American is actually fraudulent lol
Most of America is a house of cards too, but never underestimate the power of inertia. Everything has been hollowed out here by looters and finance vultures, but it just keeps going until someone pokes at it enough, and even then ... we tend to just say its "creative destruction" when the value disintegrates overnight.
The bones are still the best on Earth, by a longshot. That said, there is no reason to destroy it, no matter how grand Elon "John Galt" Musk's plans are. Economy is 85-90% self contained. Energy resources. Food resources. 17,000+ miles of navigable waterways, 5,000+ mile moats, etc. . . None of that goes away. Nor do things like the wind and solar industries that are killing it in, ironically, Texas. I know this is terrible news for the self-flagellating crowd, but it's objectively true. That said, I'd prefer we get there sanely and see how much of Elon's "necessary pain" we can avoid. Reality is we're in the best position in the world and set to launch for a very productive next 100 years. Only thing standing in the way is our political system. Which is why I - SINCERELY - at times wish for some kind of military coup and a reset of the political system completely. Go full Sulla on the Rs and Ds and start over!
Well one of the parties already went rogue, and look at what that has lead to - supposed insidious corruption turned into outright corruption conducted publically, no need to worry about those pesky laws anymore! It is a shame we have to pretend that Elon Musk, a government contractor, isn't auditing his own books and that he didn't buy the Presidency with the help of foreign governments who want to see us fail, but that's where we are.
I'm not saying it will be smooth sailing. MAGA will do it's best to prevent that and cap our potential. Just saying that not even MAGA or Elon Hughes can completely fuck it up. It will suck getting there, but whatever comes next will probably be a lot better. . . and it won't be MAGA or the current version of the D party. Hopefully, the pain is not too painful. If we had the intelligence to elect someone like Haley, we'd probably be in countdown to launch. Instead, we get delayed launch thanks to MAGA Morons.
OMG! It was a Dune reference. It's only been around for 50 years. People are actually offended by this? Who? MAGA? God Emperor of Dune - Wikipedia
