Assuming a WCWS berth, Shumaker is on pace for about 53 HRs this season. Just so we don’t set our expectations too high, I wanted to remind everyone that stats derived from a just few games into a season can be misleading. She probably won’t hit more than 40. Or 45.
My two seats at KSP are available for games on February 11th, 12th, 15th and 16th. Please contact me in FB messenger and we can work things out. You need a Ticket Master account to transfer my tickets and a Venmo account to exchange the money. I do this at cost so I make no profit. I wanna Gator in my seats to cheer our team on. Persons on this thread can also contact me in a private conversation. Thanks.
That was not a parent. Security came down and mistakenly thought it was Greg Rothrock. But the fans around him said no and pointed out the correct person. As reserved as Greg is, I cannot imagine him doing that. Reserved or not, he is a heck of a great guy.
If she and Reagan hit 20 each, I will be satisfied because they will spread it out and they will come when we need them. That would be amazing though if she and Reagan did hit 20+.
This team has some serious power potential. 20 is indeed the reasonable upper expectation for an elite power hitter in the SEC. With Reagan’s 19 last year, she clearly fits that mold. Taylor is a bit of wildcard, but she is at least threatening to replace Wallace’s 16 bombs from last year. Erickson had 15, so she could touch the upper teens as well. Meanwhile, if Ava surpasses her freshman 13, she’ll go into the middle teens. Also, both Otis (9 last year) and Mia (6) seem to have a good shot at double digits. It’s common for at least a player or two to have a statistical regression, but six Gators with double digit HRs with two of them at 20 would not be completely shocking.
This pace will not be kept up obviously but to put it in perspective Babe Ruth's career slugging % .690. After one week Taylor's slugging % is 1.4444%. She is definitely a unicorn player so to speak. Her hitting approach right now is absolutely on point in just going opposite field if that is what the pitchers are giving you. At some point I am interested to see what happens when she is given something to pull to see how far she can launch the ball because going forward as she gets stronger from the weight room work she is going to have crazy power potential.
I’m glad Florida fans backed up Greg. He is not a hothead and knows his softball. I would never expect him to be out of line. Thanks to all who supported him.
As an aside, a couple of the Michigan fans behind me started to called Kendra Falby, "Slappy" and just laughed at their cleverness....until the game got out of hand and the laughs ran out.
I thought what happens in Tampa stays in Tampa Seriously, it is good to hear that it wasn't a parent. As the inning ended, I saw the opposing coach giving him a death stare while she walked to the dugout, clearly pissed off. She then contacted security and the game was stopped until the ejection was complete.
Kendra sure “Slapped” the ball off of the right field light post. That is pretty good for a “slapped” ball. She has reserved power.
First week of National stats have been published. Gators are 12th in BA, 24th in ERA, 4th in HR, 4th in OB%, 12th in scoring, and 24th in SB. Pretty impressive considering there are 291 Division I softball teams.
Listen, I'm sure he's a great guy and I have zero doubt he knows his softball, but "reserved" doesn't really fit as a descriptor.
I agree. I don't think she's as successful as everybody says when she slaps to 3rd base. I think she does that about 75% of her ABs. She needs to mix in an alternative approach - and swinging away is my suggestion.
