Really? Positive comments about Rillos got ya bunched up? You do a stat dump without perspective and double down with a dense comment- smh.

Well, enlighten us. What type of skill set does Rillos have? What type of offense did Rillos play in before he came to UF? What were the practice reports on Rillos? What type of projections do you have for Rillos?

I am looking forward to a tightend who can block. We have had too many who could catch and not block. I don't need to be-labor Rillos, but I am simply eager to see what he can bring to the offense. There's far more to discuss about the offense than just one player anyway; unless it is DJL!

I want to see the Gator offense be feared! Let's face it, it has not been. Personally, I enjoy an offense that fires on all cylinders. BN has some great pre-motion sets to get defenses to show what defense they're playing. He has needed an experienced qb with the talent of DJ to exploit defenses, and he has not had one yet. Is 2025 the year? Perhaps, but DJL most likely needs another year of development. My heart hopes he doesn't, but my head thinks otherwise!

We have similar threads in Awesome Recruiting. We talked about some of this there, too.

Boardingham wasn’t a great blocker, but both Hansen and Livingston are very good blockers. Livingston was an OT in HS.

Rillos is a very interesting talent. He came to UF in the summer last year. CBN likes him and wanted him to redshirt a year to learn the offense after four years in a triple option. Very interested to see what he does this spring. I wouldn’t be shocked if he isn’t TE #1 after spring.

For his background, he was a 200lb WR in HS. AF turned him into a TE. He’s also a well rounded athlete. He was very good at lacrosse and basketball. He brings some juice as a downfield TE. He only had 8 catches his last year at AF, but that was a big number in that triple option offense. They had like 50-55 completions the whole season. Those 8 catches were around 15% of AFs total. And of course he can block. TEs don’t play in a triple option if they can't block.

I totally expect Lagway to be a monster next year. For talent his comps are Leak and Tebow. Both of them had big sophomore seasons; Tebow won the Hiesman. We’ll know a lot after spring. He should dominate those fifteen practices.

The aspect of the offense that is really under rated is our tight end room. They have a lot of depth, experience, size and athleticism. Tony Livingston is actually a very good basketball player and is supposedly the best basketball player on the team, which will be scary when the light comes on.

If DJ can get these monsters really involved in the passing game, that can put a lot of pressure on the defense and really open up the wide receivers and running back in the passing game.

If BN calls plays that get our TEs passes frequently, great.

Lying Season = Offseason. I have no idea what he's done before or a projection for this year, which is why I questioned his proven status. It’s a subjective measure though. For instance, I would hesitate to even call Lagway proven at this point. That doesn't mean I'm implying he can't or won't have a monster season, people just have a tendency to assume if not being explicitly positive that means you are being negative.

I don't subscribe to your negativity, as this quote says it all! There were and still are things stated that are untrue, but not everything. Yes, quite a bit was misleading by sports journalists, but I do not believe for a second that they intentionally say what fans want to hear! I do think there was a horrible amount of hype going into the off-season that was really exaggerated. In terms of Lagway, I wonder if the expectations of Gator Nation are too high! DJ is an incredible talent, but he is not there yet. He could exceed expectations next year--he-s that kind of talent--but I do think the hype may not serve DJ well!

Incorrect... It's amazing how those that love to bellyache also love to play the victim card- it's almost every single time.... crazy

LIS, you did a stat dump without perspective. That's not a good thing.

2nd season gold for 2nd yr premium QBs. Leak and Tebow were monsters their 2nd seasons.

I think that has more to do with the decision-making of the quarterback.

Yes... TEs had a couple good days with Merts. I also liked how Lagway used the TE in the 2nd half of the bowl game- freshman growth.

Uh, you were the one who got all caught up in your feelings about my opinion that Rillos is not a proven player. The context doesn't change anything. His stats are while playing in a fundamentally different offense against lower level competition, if anything that only strengthens the position of being unproven in the context of the SEC competition.

So, you basically agree with the premise of equating offseason with lying, citing last year as a prime example, but reject it because there are also truths? OK.

I'm staying tempered in my expectations, and will call out or question what seems over the top. Calling a transfer TE with no P4 experience a proven talent falls into over the top for me. I have no doubt that will rub some the wrong way as I seem to do quite often, but they are free to disagree, it's just discussion.

Has to have something to do with the scheme, and/or our TEs not being open(for whatever reason(s)). Remember Kyle Pitts?
