Update: Trump is still committed to his "Palestinian Solution." For anyone who was hoping it was just random musings that wouldn't amount to anything, your optimism may be misplaced.

"President Donald Trump said the United States is “committed to buying and owning Gaza,” and that he may allow other countries in the Middle East to help develop it.

“Think of it as a big real estate site, and the United States is going to own it, and will slowly, very slowly, develop it,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday."

“As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it. Other people may do it, under our auspices,” Trump said."

One American official in the area asked, and I paraphrase, "When did statecraft become real estate craft?"

Seems quite bizarre that trump wants to deport all refugees from the US but expects mid eastern countries to take in Palestinian refugees.

This is definitely not an America first move. This seems more like a comment that we would hear from one of the Bush boys. This feels more like the continuation of ethnic cleansing to me

He talks a lot of nonsense. Will believe when I see it. Until then, it’s the BS firehose flooding the zone.

OT: what’s going on with groceries? Heading to the the egg aisle.

    Moronic… but at least interesting.
IF Palestinians had or would spend their money (given by other nations) building a harbor, resorts, infrastructure.. Gaza could be a profitable area.. it is on the Mediterranean Sea, small enough area to really focus on a complete transformation. Palestinian people would have strong stable economy, inflow of tourism, and could actually build their reputation to the point of having a voice that is much more than a terrorist organization on the world stage.
    But
It should not be US owning or even developing the area. Let Dubai, Qatar, SA, come in and build resorts and casinos.
    We stay out of it.
And.. Hamas will never relent control. Israel/ Jordan/US would have to provide over watch.. which the Palestinians would never allow..
But from a purely real estate standpoint.. that’s trip if land could be something special.

What fun would that be for Trump? He's a real estate developer. I doubt he's even considered the strategic/military implications of expanding our footprint in the Middle East. As always, he's blinded by the glitz and the glamour. Displacing 2 million occupants, agitating Middle Eastern nations, paying for his Vegas-by-the-sea--mere bumps on the road.

Maybe.. and I do not discount that as a possibility but I also think it possible that Trumps ego will push him to want the accolades and admiration that would come with fixing the Gaza issue ( well not fixing it but.. moving it in a promising direction). You can see tweets now if found a way to completely develop Gaza and give Palestinian people a stable place to live. I’m not saying it would be altruistic. It would be egocentric… but it at least would help.

He is saying that the Palestinians wouldn't be allowed to return...basically, he is trying to do a Trail of Tears redux where he gets the land from them and they get "reservations" someplace that he doesn't want (for now).

I am not sure how supporters can take him seriously. This is as stupid as "maybe we can introduce light into the body". Trump riffs ridiculous nonsensical impractical and impossible solutions to issues he doesnt understand and misdiagnoses.

It's too easy to forget that for them it's all about grievance.

There's never been any doubt that he may be history's greatest con man - never more evident than how he conned them into buying that he was now the grievance.

They've already begun their backtracking on him getting anything done. To them winning is feeling their grievance justified. It has absolutely nothing to do with our country.

    Pretty sad, really.

I definitely agree with your first sentence.

I don't know how one squares "America First," and shutting down foreign aid, when you're sticking your big bazoo into everyplace from Panama, to Canada, to Greenland, to Mexico, and now Gaza. Why does one think the ME nations will welcome American interference in their affairs? I think the ME has been violently transparent about their feelings on this issue.

Trump warns of ending Israel-Hamas ceasefire if all hostages aren’t returned

President Trump on Monday suggested he might end a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas if all hostages being held in Gaza are not released by the end of the week, warning that if the deal does not go through, “all hell is going to break out.”

“As far as I’m concerned, if all of the hostages aren’t returned by Saturday at 12 o’clock — I think it’s an appropriate time — I would say cancel it and all bets are off and let hell break out,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office after signing another array of executive orders.

“And if they’re not returned — all of them, not in drips and drabs, not two, and one, and three, and four and two. Saturday at 12 o’clock. And after that, I would say all hell is going to break out,” he added.

Agree and not surprising considering that Andrew Jackson is perhaps Trump's favorite president.

You can’t make this stuff up proving Trump is a comedy writer’s best friend.
