How high do we rise?? Post auburn beat down

Why would we jump Tennessee? They just beat us. Bama and Houston won, too, and Auburn still has a better overall resume. I can see Duke dropping to six, if only because the top 6 is so tightly packed, but it’s all irrelevant. We are top 6 on every notable site and firmly on that 2 line—with a chance to move up.

 

I could easily see Auburn staying above us and a couple others also (NTIM) , but not the vols. Bama #1.
Vols and Gators split their games and the Vols have 1 more sec loss including a loss to Auburn. Most Vols were surprised they rose so high in the last poll after their losses to KY and vandy.

2. Auburn
3. Florida
4. Duke
5. Tennessee
6. Houston

 

Could SEC be ranked 1-4 this week? (Bama, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida)

Could Florida have a shot at beating three #1s this year when it goes to Tuscaloosa on March 5? I am sure that would be a first. ( only five have beaten two #1s)

I'd agree with you if the loss to Mizzou wasn't only a single point.

 

Honestly as others have said, I don’t want to be #1 right now. It only puts a bullseye on your back as teams want to be David slaying Goliath - you’re guaranteed to get their best game. All I care about is our seeding for the tourney…..give me a 1 there and I’m happy.

So the models are all over the map.

 

I think if we had won there would be no argument.. But that was a very close game until Walt got hurt.

Also the Vandy win was a really nice one with no Walt and Chin. They were ranked earlier in the week prior.

 

I think we will still be behind UT. We are 1-1 versus them and we are only 2-2 against the top 25 whereas UT is 6-3 against the top 25. Incidentally, Auburn is 8-2 and Alabama is 7-2. We just haven't played as many top teams as these other programs. But our 2 wins are probably the 2 best wins of anyone. Duke is 2-2 against top 25 and Houston is 1-3. I think you can make a legit case for us being ahead of both of them.

 

Crazy thing is that we might not move at all. Lot of basketball though, and this puts us in position as long as we finish strong

 

I'm hoping for #5 and a huge chip on our shoulders

MAYBE they move us ahead of Duke, but that would surprise me. As long as we keep our metrics up, it doesn't matter what humans think.

 

I think, nationally, lots of people were thinking UF has a pretty good team but not top tier. They're rethinking that now.

 

Auburn still only has 2 losses, everyone else we're talking about has at least three now. Auburn stays #1 IMO. After that, Bama is probably #2 and then ???

 

Auburn/Alabama 1-2or 2-1
Florida/Tennessee 3-4 or 4-3
Duke-5

 

Realistically, aside from the first Tennessee game, we have always been getting every teams best

 

Where's Kentucky?

 

It’s extra incentive since there’s a difference taking down a #1. We highlighted it after the first UT game and are talking about it again after beating another, now two #1’s in one season. It just means more.

 

We should be #2 hopefully. Duke lost. We beat Auburn impressively at their place. The win on road at #1 should bump us to jump UT and Houston as well just based on the quality of win and it’s splitting hairs to have those teams ahead of us in the first place. I don’t see it as enough to pass an impressive Bama who should probably inherit #1.

 

Right now being #1 doesn't mean squat. I'll take #1 when all is said and done at the end of the tourney.
