A grand jury indicted a Bowie, Maryland, police officer on a charge of attempted murder for firing his gun at a man on a busy road last month. Are you here to help her?” Warrington asked. “Nah, she’s taking me to the hospital,” the man replied. Moments later, Warrington fired a shot. A woman screamed, “What did you do? What did you do? What did you do? Why did you do that? Why did you that?” “I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” Warrington said. The gunshot hit a passing minivan. Luckily, no one was injured. The video that was provided by the Bowie City Police Department, it speaks for itself,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy said. “The actions were not in line with the training or the orders of the Bowie City Police Department.” Bowie police officer charged with attempted murder Luckily no one was killed by this trigger happy idiot’s actions.
Terrible policing - this is the definition of trigger happy. Not sure if attempted murder is correct. From his immediate reaction of "Im sorry, Im sorry, Im sorry" I'd suspect he sucks as a cop vs is attempting to murder folks. I assume there is no "attempted negligent homicide" charge that exists? What a numb-skull. Glad he didnt kill anyone.
Yeah I’m not sure about the attempted murder charge. I’m wondering what would have happened if the bullet killed the guy or someone in a passing vehicle? Manslaughter? Either way, glad no one was killed.
If you pull out a gun and fire at somebody without justification, isn’t that pretty much defacto attempted murder? Saying “oops I’m sorry I’m sorry” doesn’t erase the act. Now if he actually killed the guy, that’s where it’s broken down into intent with pre-meditation (1st degree), or if it lacks pre-mediation (2nd degree) or charges like manslaughter or negligent homicide for more “accidental” acts might come into play. For example if he unjustly fired his weapon at a person and missed, but the shot fatality struck a bystander, he would have a charge of “attempted murder” against the person he originally tried to shoot and likely something like 2nd degree homicide against the innocent bystander. Or at least that’s the way these things should work without the “back the blue” impunity bs.
Who cares if he said “I’m sorry”? No verbal warning. Shoot first, ask questions later? That is reprehensible.
Seent it. Crazy. I've been debating on adding to my bad cops thread because I have a ton of these. From Pheonix cops (Pheonix, big surprise) cooking a man on the asphalt to a Broward County cop snapping a non violent old lady's arm to some cops leaving a still-living man with a gunshot wound to die because their shifts were almost over to more than 600 sober drivers in Tennessee arrested for DUI to a DUI dismissal sceme that's been going on for a decade to a cop who paralyzed a man (again) and wasn't suspended for over a year until a new sherrif was elected. Many more. One like on this comment and I'll update that thread tomorrow.
