Spot on then and now. If I needed a hug to make it through a tough time, Jenny Rowland would be perfect. I'm not sure a hug is what this team needs.
under rotated with chest down and took step forward in wrong direction plus doesn't come close to 180 on split leaps equals crap score. Anya had problems with poor quality split leaps last season too.
I didn't watch tonight..so I hope you can give us your opinions on what went wrong..girls still sick or what?
Wish I could say, but the lack of poise and strength demonstrated on beam was mind boggling. Like Michigan State last week which should have tied up that meet at UCLA, UF bombed while the Arkansas Dance Party, a knock off of UCLA with the piggie HC from there, had a great time. I will say this again, CJR just cannot permit Ellie Lazzari to participate in more than one routine per meet. The Ellie fall is what started the funk that infested every other performer on the beam team. The beam team was nothing short of embarrassing. I hope everyone now realizes how important Sloane Blakey is to the team. When UF needed a stopper, she wasn't there. That neither Sloane nor Skye traveled with the team is mind boggling. The article at floridagators.com had a blurb at the bottom saying that Sloane and Skye would be back later in the month. What the heck is that supposed to mean? (shaking head) At 1-2 in the SEC, we can forget about the SEC regular season championship. UF is left to winning meets and hopefully flushing the opening meet score and the score last night from the NQS when it starts. EDIT: No. 2 Florida Gymnastics Drops Meet at No. 15 Arkansas - Florida Gators Unless I'm missing it in the article this morning, the part about the Blakelys being back later in the month has been removed from the article.
Thanks. I overlooked it this morning: "Both Sloane and Skye Blakely did not compete Friday but look to return to lineup later this month." Anyone have any idea what is going on?
I just watched the match and I Have NEVER seen a Gator gymnastics team collapse like we did last night. From a .650 lead going to the last routine to losing by ,625 is mind boggling, especially with the quality gymnasts we have. They started off very strong on the bars, had to count a 9.775 on the vault, but OK, they still were solid overall. Floor exercise was pretty good, not great, while Arkansas struggled some on the beam. Skylar started us off on the beam OK with a 9.800, but who would have believed she would be our high score in that event??!!! Incredible. Ellie fell in an ugly way, but then Pilgrim and Victoria wobbled, Leann was not her normal self, scoring only a 9.80 and then Selena fell. I can't blame Ellie for it all because our other experienced, excellent gymnasts are used to stepping up and doing what needs to be done. And yet ALL of them put in subpar performances, a couple of them really bad. Just a total team fail. And I agree that Sloane is very valuable to this team. Yet competitors who have come through in the clutch year after year all couldn't do it last night. Learn and move on. I also agree that Coach Rowland needs to really do some soul searching analysis and put our best 6 on each event and stop messing around.
No. I asked Dr Sam via twitter, but no answer. I haven't checked Reddit, but Gymcastics and All Things Gymnastics podcasts release new episodes on Tuesday. I'm sure they will have a lot to say.
I was really bummed Friday night. So glad the basketball and softball teams turned things around yesterday!
Skye was there but just not competing. Someone I know at the meet last week said Skye was struggling with her dismount in warmup. I know the flu was going around the past couple of weeks so I’d bet Sloane missing was illness. It’s not worth getting others sick traveling with the team. I know Jafree Scott didnt travel to Florida a couple of weeks ago because of the flu.
Road to Nationals Top 15 Average Scores - The NQS started being reported after week 8 in 2024 - UF only dropped 1 spot which is pretty amazing after the beam implosion at the piggies - Arkansas is still #15: 1.
