MBB OGT: #6 FLORIDA at #1 Auburn -- February 8, 2025 -- 4 PM [ESPN2]

Just finished watching - Tremendous team win. Condon & Hough were absolute beasts. Condon played 33 minutes, 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal. Hough 29 minutes, 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 3 blocks. Clayton was great today as well. 40 m,inutes, 19 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 steal, 1 block and only 3 turnovers. Klavzar's 3-3 on threes was big, Aberdeen & Richard were solid and Chinyulu did the dirty work in the paint. 22 team assists, 12 turnovers. Excellent win. 20-3. Whio would have thought? Now were need Alijah Martin back when we go to Starkeville on Tuesday.

 

Absolutely loved the big lineup down the stretch. Ran that Gonzaga duck in action out of the timeout for a quick basket, kept them off the glass, and were still able to beat the press.

Definitely a statement win for Golden and this program. No Martin, on the road against unquestionably the best team in the country, beat them soundly with all sorts of new lineups and rotations out there, and Golden’s first win over his mentor.

Dominant first half by Clayton (16), who turned into a phenomenal distributor in the second (7 assists). Condon and Haugh made play after play—scoring, rebounding, passing, protecting the rim. Huge 3s from Urban and Aberdeen at pivotal junctures. Could not ask for a more complete game in mort adverse circumstances.

 

Best, most well rounded team in the country. It really isn't that close either.

Condon and Haugh are becoming Al and Jo. These two are good and work so well together. I'm impressed.

And.........UF has finally oiled up and calibrated it's secret weapon for the stretch run. Klavzar has to play! Golden needs to find 5 or 6 minutes for this sniper! 3 - 3? Decent %!

 

Big Sam likes a three, big when he hit it, I am sure Auburn players were talking to themselves. Every player on the team can hit threes. What can we do on a night like this….
As for Urban, once he hit a three last game, his confidence and fitting in with this team took a turn to him being a big help. Like Condo said, all Gator fans let them know, we love them and they are needed! Right on Condon, the thunder from down under.

 

Does everybody agree that the Gators need major work on defensive rebounding missed free throws? That was a glaring weakness today that helped keep Auburn as close as they were.

 

Klavzar has hit his last 5 three point attempts, all huge shots. He could be huge come tournament time and someone to draw the defense away from the rim.

 

Yes at Starkville won't be easy either

 

I would just like to add, hats off to the team for some really clutch free throw shooting, especially Tommy. 83% from the line kept this from being too close for comfort at the end.

 

I called it. I said Jr has a habit on beating up chickenhawks.

No, lol. Auburn is a terrific offensive rebounding team, too. It happens. Hardly something I have seen routinely.

 

I know it's not necessary to complain about refs after such a huge win, but I think that to some extent they kept Aub in the game. These two plays (no call on Klavzar getting face swiped twice & the 3pt foul on Condon which was absolute BS) stunk. Too often refs disrespect players like Urban, who hasn't seen his star rise yet. Get hit in the face and the damn whistle should blow. Get hit 2x in the face and that's BS on the refs.

 

Gator basketball... makes me happy.
