Spurrier must be thinking where was the 12 team playoff when I coached

Agreed...I love hypotheticals...imagine if replay had been used to correct bad calls sooner than it was introduced. There would be so many game outcomes and national championships changed. One of the fun parts of being a fan of sports is the what if?

As silly and simple minded as it may sound, “Miami won every game” is factual logic. If ‘01 Miami was such an overrated team, someone would’ve snuck up on them and actually beaten them. No one did. That’s a fact. If ‘01 UF was such a great team that could have beaten ‘01 Miami, they would have taken care of business during the season and put themselves in a position to prove it. Instead they stumbled against a mediocre 7-5 Auburn team and against Tennessee. So UF couldn’t even take care of the business they needed to for the hypothetical Miami matchup to happen. These are facts. We can play the would’ve, could’ve, should’ve “if Spurrier had done this, if we didn’t have injuries, if the refs didn’t do this, if Bobby Bowden and FSU didn’t do this etc” game all day, but I’m going off what actually happened.

32 is a few more points than we averaged last year. Just saying.

Thats why we play the games. Noone would have predicted this years playoffs to go down like it did.

You don't really expect @garnetgold_coop to acknowledge something good about the Gators do you? I love your passion, Brother, but you're pissing into the wind.

“Weak ass schedule” yet they would’ve demolished the mediocre 7-5 Auburn team ‘01 UF managed to lose to. Since we’re playing the “would’ve could’ve should’ve” game.

@garnetgold is too hot denizen that clings tightly to logical fallacies such as this example: Since something didn't happen, he believes that it could not have happened.

True. Spurrier did feel the talent level of that team was one of his best. But…Ut game being moved, as we know, to the end of the season, helped them more than us.
We won the games we won. Period.

I agree with much of what you said, but you seem to focus on this "VPI was only 8-4":

    * In 1996, we barely beat Vandy who was a horrible 2-9
    * In 2001, we lost to Auburn, who was 7-5 (yes, I know, the wind, but both teams have to play in the wind)
    * In 2008, we lost to Ole Miss, who went 9-4

Bottom line: On Any Given Saturday. You know this as well as anyone.

Of course, then there is Florida State from 1992-2000, when they joined the ACC. We won 3 of 11 games against the Noles in that time span, in spite of their allegedly weak schedule. And yes, I remember the excuse then as well. "They get to rest their starters all year while we have to play 'The Gauntlet.'"

We've all been around long enough to remember...
