This sounds like some kind of bad conspiracy theories to even contemplate that actions this partisan and egregious would be carried out by the DOJ. After Letter Schumer Just Got from Trump's DOJ, He Probably Should Have Asked Biden for a Pardon “I want to tell you, Gorsuch! I want to tell you, Kavanaugh!” Schumer screeched to a crowd on the steps of the Supreme Court building, according to PJ Media. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,” Schumer added. “You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price.” Those comments were made almost five years ago, but to the Trump administration, they may as well have been made yesterday. United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Ed Martin sent a letter one day after Trump retook office asking Schumer about those remarks.“I respectfully request that you clarify your comments from March 4, 2020,” Martin wrote, citing the heated language uttered at the rally, according to a copy of the document obtained by the National Legal and Policy Center. “We take threats against public officials very seriously. I look forward to your cooperation with my letter of inquiry after request,” Martin continued. The fact that Trump prosecutors are digging up unhinged rhetoric from five years ago shows they mean business.
As a point of information Martin is an election denier who marched on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and although he didn't actually enter the Capitol he's defended the recently pardoned criminals who did so. Naming him the Acting US Attorney for DC was truly putting the proverbial fox in charge of the hen house.
Step by step, Trump voters accept more and more Trump criminality and un-American conduct. Is this even a surprise by now?
This guy is a jerkoff and just one more example of the unqualified but dangerous people Trump is putting in positions of power. NYT v Sullivan already established that the US has “a profound national commitment to the principle that debate on public issues should be uninhibited, robust, and wide-open, and that it may well include vehement, caustic, and sometimes unpleasantly sharp attacks on government and public officials.”
Are you defending Schumer's remarks? Will anyone on the self-righteous progressive left concede Schumer's remarks are un-American? And anyone who understands the legislation which was enacted long before Trump to protect judges from threats, I'd love to hear whether Schumer's remarks might potentially violate that law
Whirlwind is nothing but air. Not a go-to way of intimidating someone. It was simply hyperbole. Free speech, you know, like $Trump exercises every single day. $Trump supporters sounding like snowflakes. And these intimidation tactics from the administration will not work.
I don't listen to pretend concern for America, or the rule of law, from any hypocrite who voted for and shills for the only sitting President in US history to attempt to not peacefully transfer power. And who enacted a criminal conspiracy to overturn an election. Weird how your credibility is totally shot after tolerating that, huh? You're like OJ Simpson suddenly wanting to tell how bad it is to cut people's heads off. Maybe someone else is interested in some hypocrisy though....
Is it typical for the DOJ to send letters requesting clarification? In any event, I did not see reference to any criminal statutes in the letter but based on a quick search, it seems that the SOL will run in less than a month.
It's obvious that Schumer was speaking symbolically. He wasn't physically threatening Gorsch and Kavanaugh anymore than Sarah Palin was physically threatening Democrats when she used the term "targeting" and including what appeared to be gun sights in campaign material.
Wait... you were expecting any type of competence from the crap show the felon is trotting out for us?
Oh the lengths the Left goes to protect their own: “speaking symbolically” and being “hyperbolic”. Would the same standard be used with Trump we would have 1/2 the posts we have on THFSG
